Toddy Gear Wedge and Screensters Make Functional and Fun iPhone Accessories

image

It’s been a little more than two years since I reviewed the original Toddy screen cleaning cloth. Since then I think that has been one of the better, if not best, quality (and affordable) screen cleaning accessories on the market. Recently, Toddy Gear came out with two new re-inventions of the screen cleaning system called the Wedge ($14.99) and Screensters ($9.99)

The Wedge is an all-in-one stand and cleaning system. Have a case on? No big deal. Just rest your device on the Wedge and you have an instant stand. Is your screen dirty? Use one side of the Wedge to clean it, and then polish your screen with the other silky side of the stand. This would make a great travel accessory, as it’s fairly light and multi-purpose. The design I have been using is called the Wiseguy Willy Wedge. Check out the product page below to view the various designs available.

Gain Extra iOS Storage with Kingston's MobileLite Wireless

image

When I reviewed Kingston's Wi-Drive around this time last year, I was impressed by the product's innovative solution to the fixed storage capacity of the iPhone and iPad. Even though 64 (or even 128) gigabytes of storage seems like plenty for an iOS device, it's really not if you shoot a lot of video or have a library full of high resolution photos. Before the Wi-Drive came on the market, you were stuck with either lugging along a laptop paired with the iPhone or iPad or using Apple's camera adapter kit. The Wi-Drive made it easy to transport a large volume of media and have it accessible to any Wi-Fi device.

Dolry Turns Old Speaker Docks into AirPlay Streaming Wonders!

image

Why do companies do it? (Make new stuff that is no longer compatible with old stuff?!) While there's some truth to emerging technology outdating old products, companies also do it to get you to spend more money. Take all those old 30-pin speaker docks out there in iPhoneland, we bought them up like hot cakes, right? Now, many older iPhones and iPods have turned into dust-collecting paperweights and the compatible docks are all but obsolete.

But there is a gadget that can transform your speaker into shiny new tech yet again! The Dolry, made by Swedish manufacturer C4 Electronics, is an extremely ingenious Wi-Fi adapter that connects to your old 30-pin dock and turns it into an AirPlay (or DLNA) compatible wireless powerhouse!

AmpliTube 3.0 and iRig HD for iOS: Tools for the Mobile Guitarist

image

IK Multimedia is making big news in the tablet-assisted music world after announcing a major upgrade to its flagship iOS guitar effects software and hardware. AmpliTube 3.0 ($19.99) and its complimentary (though not required) iRig HD ($99.99) hardware can now take aspiring and expert guitarists to a whole new level.

The original AmpliTube was one of the first serious guitar effects applications for the iOS platform and has garnered a strong following thanks to IK Multimedia's expansion packs. These have featured the sounds of guitar masters like Jimi Hendrix and Slash as well as a collection of emulated stomp boxes, tuners, and effects. Taking an iPad, an iRig HD, an iRig STOMP, and AmpliTube on the road is no longer a curiosity for a lot of live guitar performances.

Power Without Wires: BuquTech Magnetyze Charging System for iPhone

image

One day, our Apple iDevices will power themselves wirelessly, sucking in power from elements in the air. Until then, we are stuck with wires and being tethered to a traditional power source. But some vendors are making products that bridge the gap.

One such company is BuquTech, with its Magnetyze Charging System with Protective Case ($59.99). The Magentyze line is well designed and currently supports the iPhone 4, 4S, and promises a version for the iPhone 5 in the future.

If you change phones, or if multiple family members have different devices. You can mix and match and preserve your investment.

Adventure-Proof your iPhone with the Slim, Waterproof Incipio Atlas

image

The Adventure-Proof series examines and reviews the best in rugged iOS gear, apps, and accessories to help iDevice users enjoy outdoor adventures and extreme environments with their mobile tech safely in tow.

The Atlas by Incipio ($89.99) is a newcomer to the waterproof case arena and on its first try has created an excellent, ruggedized, full-time use case. The Atlas has some of the absolute best features of any heavy-duty iPhone 5 case on the market

Right Off the Bat

What intrigued me most about the Atlas was the fact that it is the first waterproof case to use shatterproof, tempered glass for its screen cover. This is both unprecedented as well as very welcome! In fact, I would describe the Atlas as a game changer in the ultra-rugged iPhone case arena.

Lifeproof Remains Leader of the Pack in Rugged, Waterproof iOS Cases

image

There are many great waterproof, rugged protective cases on the market right now, with manufacturers unveiling new ones all the time it seems. Having had the opportunity to evaluate many of the best waterproof, heavy-duty cases currently available, I have to say, Lifeproof’s line of waterproof iDevice cases still steal the show.

The Lifeproof frē for iPhone 5 ($79.99) and the original Lifeproof case for the iPhone 4/4S are excellent examples of what a great full-time use waterproof case can be. With the cases for iPhone 4 and 5 series, we see designs that are as minimalist and unobtrusive without sacrificing an ounce of durability. You could most accurately consider these cases enhancements to the iPhone design, rather than bulky behemoths that obscure the beautiful simplicity of the iPhone.

iPhone Accessories, iPad Cases, iPod Car Mount | iPhone Life Magazine

iPhone accessories is a growing market and knowing where to start looking is half the battle.  Whether you're looking for an iPhone accessories, iPad accessories or iPod Touch accessories you can find articles here on the latest products. For example, here's a snippet from an Arm Bands Review

"Have you ever tried to run with your iPhone in your pocket? It's more awkward than running with scissors. Your phone smacks against your thigh during every step or worse, falls out every few feet. Running with your device in hand is not much better. The headphone cord flops everywhere, and your hand is uncomfortable the entire time. The first step to taking your iPhone or iPod Touch on a run (please don't run with your iPad) is securing it to your body. Armbands can take a little getting used to (it feels slightly like running with a blood pressure cuff) but they are definitely much better than keeping your iPhone or iPod Touch in your pocket. Here are some solutions I've tried out..."

Here's a 2 Cases Comparison article: "There are two cases that protect your iPhone from just about anything: The Ballistic Hard Core and The Otterbox Defender.  So which to buy?  Both provide the best protection you can buy. The Ballistic provides five layers of protection. The Otterbox provides three. However, the three layers are all that's needed for most people. If you're a telephone repair man or think you might drop your phone three stories, then you might want the extra layers of the Ballistic..."

Perhaps you want to know more about Advanced Power Packs: "Trailblazers, and rugged outdoors types looking for a power pack that adds advanced GPS app features (mophie introducing their own app to go with the new juice pack) need look no further than the latest Juice pack product, called the "outdoor edition."Access to enhanced map sets, and GPS tracking features are among the features the app will offer... read on for more PR info, or go to the link above..."

All of these articles shed some more light on the topic of iPhone accessories and will help you todiscover what is out there on the market.
