Polaris Office is a pretty unique app of its kind. To sum it up, it allows Apple users with devices such as the iPad or iPhone to access and edit Microsoft Office documents. Of course, it's a lot more extensive than just that; but this is why it has become one of the most popular business apps to date. As for its cost, many people believe that the worth definitely meets its value.
This week, I review Ichi; advanced pong/puzzle game rising fast in app store popularity, and as about as simple as a game can get and still provide devilishly mind-twisting fun. Also, some important news: for those who have heard me ranting but not yet sampled the Galaxy on Fire 2 space adventure (SD version)--99 cents for a very limited time (expires June 15th, 2012) so do not tarry too overlong to snag it. In other iOS gaming news, Bank Job side-runner freebie has been released, and a new 3D racer called Bounty Racer coming this summer. I hope to review both in an upcoming WIPTW column, time permitting. Read on for the Ichi review and full game news releases...
True I'm a blogger, but still consider myself a serious writer of sorts, and as such must recommend the Wordflex Touch Dictionary (formerly called TWIG, see our review here) for anyone else in the pursuit of putting fingers to keyboard or iPad screen. I do a fair amount of technical writing, and I'm always rooting around for a good synonym... WordFlex helps me immensely, and it just looks plain awesome while doing it! The latest update (besides changing the name) adds improved navigation features, Retina graphics and much more. The price is hefty at $24.99, but the beauty and capability of this app make it well worth the expense. Bullet list of features after the break...
Welcome to my somewhat weekly app review column (aka WIPTW), where I mostly review games and "play-oriented" apps and news. This week, have 3 apps to review (and another to preview), so won't waste any time with my usual blabbering. Draw the Line is a cute puzzler with physics aspects. Ichi is still under embargo, but can say it's another interesting puzzle game soon to be released. InstaJam is a basic drum machine app, and iTunes Movie Trailers though not a game, is an iTunes award-winning freebie vid player handy for finding all the latest movie previews. Last but certainly not least, I offer up a quick QA with some of the Aoineka folks about their coming Kitaru game, and you don't want to miss this iPhonelife exclusive about what could shape up to be one of the best iOS 3D gaming experiences ever!
Let’s just skip the formalities – G5 has another hit on their hands with Crossworlds: The Flying City. There’s nothing really new in terms of game play, but the game play is certainly as solid as ever. What makes this game is the locations, and while I’ve only visited three spots so far (with several screens of exploration each), I like how vastly different every setting feels. I wouldn’t say Crossworlds is G5’s strongest offering, but it certainly keeps them on their winning streak.
In the ever-so-crowded field of cases and folios for iDevices it's an understatement to say that it can be a challenge for one brand to stand out from the crowd. To that end, X-Doria is a company that has created a unique and varied product line-up, products that appeal both to a sense of touch as well as a sense of visual aesthetics.
The iZON from stem
is a beautiful, functional Wi-Fi enabled security camera / NannyCam. In fact, it looks like it was designed by Apple, which is high praise indeed. It's a small cylinder, reminiscent of Apple's original iSight external camera.
The removable convex base connects to the iZON
via magnets, allowing for some flexible angles.
Lot's of news to post up on, and I played at least one new game this week. Shoot the Zombirds created by Infinite Dreams (Jelly Defense, Can Knockdown), is target practice in Halloween-land (if there was such a place), a second variation to Shoot the Birds. Also posting a rewind review on Chromian Wars 1.2 as they updated their app after our initial feedback. Both games are worth a look. For the news: a new expansion pack coming for the top 3-D space shooter, Galaxy on Fire 2 (probably my most played game any week); a new turn-based strategy game called LostStar Tactics (from the creators of Staunch Defense); and speaking of exciting new TD, just out, Defender Chronicles II! Whew, that's alot, so let's dig in, shall we...
iPad Reviews, News, Tips and Tricks
Searching for the best iPad reviews, news or tips and tricks on accessories, apps, gadgets and more is just as important as figuring which apple product you should get in the first place. iPad reviews and news on different products allow you to make a more conscientious decision, but where should you look. Here at iPhone Life Magazine we work towards answering these very questions. This page is dedicated to iPad reviews, news, tips and tricks. This is just one example of a review that we have online (The Green Figure iHolder iPad Stand).
Another great thing about doing research is that sometimes you will find something that you weren't looking for and that can help you. For example, our page on The Best of 2011 shows our reviews for some of the best products that came out this past year. This link gives you just a taste of some of the concrete examples of reviews that we do.
Now, the iPad 2 has been around for several months and there have been several companies that have based themselves around the needs of this tablet. However, it is still a competitive world in the market of accessories. Anyone could be easily overwhelmed by all the available stands, apps, cases or any of the other niche markets. We would definitely recommend doing some research and checking out some iPad reviews to get an idea of whats available and how you are going to use your device. The market has several options to choose from today.
Such examples as IK Multimedia, have been on a roll lately, with a slew of hardware and software products tailored for amateur and prosumer musicians. Whether its stands and clips for iPhones and iPads or multitrack recording and sampling software for the iOS platform, IK has been expanding their catalog at a prodigious rate. Their latest releases include a MIDI hardware connector for the iOS platform, a sound sampler app and a iPad version of their popular VocaLive software. These iPad reviews will take a closer look at each.
Whatever you may be searching for, we too are looking for answers and want to help you find them.
