Cuboid: 3D Puzzle Game App Review

image

The Cuboid app is an addicting 3D puzzle game available on your mobile device.  The game is played on a beautiful 3D scene with the object being to move your ‘cuboid’ from the first tile through to the goal as quickly as possible, and in as few moves as possible.  Depending on the amount of moves and the amount of time it takes you, you’ll get a score.  While it sounds simple enough, the game gets much more complex because of all the different items in the game which will either help you speed through the level or try to slow you down.

Apocalypse Knights App Review

image

Many times, the large amount of apps that are housed by Apple’s App Store can prove to be a bit daunting - especially considering that tons and tons of noteworthy applications slip under the majority of gamers’ radars only to face their App Store demises. Apocalypse Knights (free), a new game from InterServ International, is one of these titles. Not yet at its failing point, though, the hidden gem is definitely worth checking out.

With the amount of fun and potential to become a dominant App Store title, Apocalypse Knights poses you with defending yourself against onslaughts of deadly, demonic enemies that are out to kill you.

Review: Oz for iPad by Podotree, Inc.

image

I’ll be perfectly up front about this – while I had some interest in this application, I mainly downloaded it so I could fill in a quick survey and get a $10 iTunes card.  As it turns out, even if I didn’t get my survey submitted in time to get the gift card, I’m glad I made the purchase.  I don’t know how close the story is to the original book, but it’s certainly more interesting than the classic MGM film starring Judy Garland (no offense to the film, which I do enjoy).  Additionally, the interactivity with the images on screen – and occasionally the words – is actually quite fun.  Now I just need to let my kids look through it…

Charging on the go... One of the questions I get most often from folks embarking on summertime adventues with tech toys is: "How do I keep my devices charged while on my travels?"

That's a great and crucial question! To address that concern, I'd like to introduce to you two handy, affordable and very useful products: the goBAT II portable USB battery charger by Scosche, and the Mojo Armor external battery case by ibattz.

What I played this week - Carnivores, Album Flow 2 and other gaming news!

image

Check out the Featured App Store bundles if you haven't yet. Several of the best apps you will likely find on the app store, all nicely sorted into related bins can be had thus. Last night I found myself perusing the dinosaur related app/games bundle (under Game Collections), and of course there is a 3D FPS game in there called Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter that I couldn't resist. The game turned out to be a mere 74MB of totally cool, and immersive hunting of the prehistoric beasties, which ran just fine even on my old original iPad with it's old-school graphics! Also this week, played with the latest release of Album Flow (see previous review here), since the developer made some interesting tweaks to the new version. Album Flow brings Cover Flow to iPad (or now iPhone), in case you were wondering, but with some interesting new capabilities. More news from the gaming realm at the end--lot's to cover so let's jump in, shall we...?

Review: Sprinkle Junior by Mediocre AB

image

I’ve actually had this game for quite some time, and I even considered reviewing it “on my own” at one point.  I finally got brave and let my son use my iPad (well, a screen protector contributed to that decision as well), and I’m glad I did.  While I found the game amusing, it was a delight to watch my son discover the quirkiness of each new level and figure out how to beat it.  The only down side to Sprinkle Junior is that there are only 30 levels, but that’s okay because my son has played through it twice already and is wanting to go back for more.

Rebel Magazine Review - A mag for the good guys!

image

Finding a men's magazine these days that isn't jammed with male enhancement ads, mostly naked people or similar junk is not exactly an easy thing. Rebel is different from other men's magazines--a decidedly encouraging thing. If you are more about doing something positive in the world, rather than sitting on your couch staring at well, junk, then Rebel might be for you. The mag's app is a well-executed mashup of interesting imagery, cleverly presented articles and linked content. For a peek at how a nicely executed magazine could look on your iPad, check out the rest of the review (or grab Rebel here).

iPad Reviews, News, Tips and Tricks

Searching for the best iPad reviews, news or tips and tricks on accessories, apps, gadgets and more is just as important as figuring which apple product you should get in the first place. iPad reviews and news on different products allow you to make a more conscientious decision, but where should you look.  Here at iPhone Life Magazine we work towards answering these very questions.  This page is dedicated to iPad reviews, news, tips and tricks.  This is just one example of a review that we have online (The Green Figure iHolder iPad Stand).

Another great thing about doing research is that sometimes you will find something that you weren't looking for and that can help you.  For example, our page on The Best of 2011 shows our reviews for some of the best products that came out this past year.  This link gives you just a taste of some of the concrete examples of reviews that we do.

Now, the iPad 2 has been around for several months and there have been several companies that have based themselves around the needs of this tablet.  However, it is still a competitive world in the market of accessories.  Anyone could be easily overwhelmed by all the available stands, apps, cases or any of the other niche markets.  We would definitely recommend doing some research and checking out some iPad reviews to get an idea of whats available and how you are going to use your device. The market has several options to choose from today.

Such examples as IK Multimedia, have been on a roll lately, with a slew of hardware and software products tailored for amateur and prosumer musicians. Whether its stands and clips for iPhones and iPads or multitrack recording and sampling software for the iOS platform, IK has been expanding their catalog at a prodigious rate. Their latest releases include a MIDI hardware connector for the iOS platform, a sound sampler app and a iPad version of their popular VocaLive software. These iPad reviews will take a closer look at each.

Whatever you may be searching for, we too are looking for answers and want to help you find them.
