Tower Raiders 2 Gold is Addicting at Best

image

Tower Raiders 2 Gold is a standard tower building app that adds a few different twists.  The overall goal is to protect the crystals from enemies that try to follow the trail directly to them.  Your army has a variety of different defensive weapons that can be purchased to kill any threat that travels down this path.  However, there are additional features and weapons that can be unlocked as you continue through the game.

To start; when you initially get onto the main menu, you can either “Play Now” or choose from “Options”.  The options allows you to configure the sound, recycling settings for new games, and a chance to access the forums where other players are discussing issues and concerns.  This is very helpful when trying to win.

Review: Luxor Evolved HD by MumboJumbo

image

Because of the Luxor franchise, one of my favorite iOS marble poppers was pulled from the App Store.  A couple of years have passed and I’ve apparently forgotten my mental ban of the company that publishes the games, because here I am reviewing the latest installment of this long running series.  Thankfully the game has gotten substantially better than the first go around, so I guess I’ll let bygones be bygones (especially since the game I liked will probably never see the light of day again).  I’m still not sure I like this quite as much as my current favorite in the genre, Sparkle, but it certainly is a fun and frantic romp.

The requirements for entering the different daily contests are quite simple, relatively speaking, considering the prize.

PrintJinni review for iPhone and iPad

image

PrintJinny is an app which will make it possible for you to print just about anything from your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch device.  The concept seems quite simple but it actually helps to get around a lot of limitations associated with these mobile devices.  More and more people are browsing the internet, looking at photos and even working from their mobile device and if they can’t print from them it is quite an inconvenience.

REVIEW: just-released multimedia player viPlay (and some other ones)

image

A new multimedia player, viPlay (AppStore link) has just been released in the AppStore. As there are no reviews of the app at all (not even mentioning dependable ones), I've found it necessary to quickly publish mine. (The detailed feature & evaluation chart of my forthcoming iOS Multimedia bible, as you may have guessed, has been updated with more thorough info on both this and the other new, below reviewed apps).

Cannibal Cookout for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad

image

Cannibal cookout is a fun cooking based game with a disturbing, yet funny, twist.  Rather than cooking with normal materials like many other cooking apps, you are a cannibal so you cook with other creatures.  The main game play screen has a large pot with boiling water in the middle, fire underneath and some trees and bushes in the background.  To beat each level you need to cook enough of the creatures to satisfy your character.

To cook one of these creatures you simply tap it and drag it into the boiling water where it will sit for a moment before going into your hunger meter to fill you up.  While they are in the boiling water they have sad little voice bubbles which say, “AHHHH” and “OUCH” which while dark still manages to be cute.

What I played this week - My own game!

image

Do you ever consider what iPhone or iPad would be without the App store? Seriously think about it...? iOS is great, sure, but would get boring in a hurry without the awesome apps and games. Games that developers create, slaving for weeks/months over details most of us would consider a form of insanity, to bring us the very best in mobile entertainment for a price under 5 bucks! What if, like in early computer days, we had to write our own apps?! I got a taste of what that might be like. I say a taste, because though I write scripts to do my job, neither coding nor computer graphics are activities I claim to be able to do well. To make a game for iOS, I would need a lot of help. Sketch Nation Studio certainly helped, but the result is well, laughable in my case!

Mohu Bounce Review - Boost your WiFi signal!

image

My WiFi point of presence is in my basement. That's where the internet service provider installer guy had to put it. I mostly work 2 floors above that level, so getting a steady WiFi signal with all the interference in my neighborhood is somewhat a dicey proposition. My router was provided by the service company, so it's not exactly standard or easily configured (though I have tweaked on it a bit). I have been looking for a way to boost my upstairs WiFi reception for years, and didn't want to fuss with repeaters, or adding another AP. I think I may have finally found one of the easiest and cheapest ways to solve this problem. The Mohu Bounce...

Ten One's Magnus is a magnificent work of design, if you like your iPad naked

image
The folks at Ten One have been making iOS accessories since the early days, with their Pogo stylus, but their latest creation is something quite unique. Suppose you want to keep your iPad naked, without a case, and you want to prop it up,with a stand. Most stands are obtrusive and take away from the iPad's sleek look. Not the Magnus. It is a slick chunk of aluminum with a few pads for protection, and some hidden magnets, like Apple's SmartCover. This allows the iPad to magically 'stick' to the stand, although it must do so in exactly one configuration, landscape with the dock connector on the right.

iPad Reviews, News, Tips and Tricks

Searching for the best iPad reviews, news or tips and tricks on accessories, apps, gadgets and more is just as important as figuring which apple product you should get in the first place. iPad reviews and news on different products allow you to make a more conscientious decision, but where should you look.  Here at iPhone Life Magazine we work towards answering these very questions.  This page is dedicated to iPad reviews, news, tips and tricks.  This is just one example of a review that we have online (The Green Figure iHolder iPad Stand).

Another great thing about doing research is that sometimes you will find something that you weren't looking for and that can help you.  For example, our page on The Best of 2011 shows our reviews for some of the best products that came out this past year.  This link gives you just a taste of some of the concrete examples of reviews that we do.

Now, the iPad 2 has been around for several months and there have been several companies that have based themselves around the needs of this tablet.  However, it is still a competitive world in the market of accessories.  Anyone could be easily overwhelmed by all the available stands, apps, cases or any of the other niche markets.  We would definitely recommend doing some research and checking out some iPad reviews to get an idea of whats available and how you are going to use your device. The market has several options to choose from today.

Such examples as IK Multimedia, have been on a roll lately, with a slew of hardware and software products tailored for amateur and prosumer musicians. Whether its stands and clips for iPhones and iPads or multitrack recording and sampling software for the iOS platform, IK has been expanding their catalog at a prodigious rate. Their latest releases include a MIDI hardware connector for the iOS platform, a sound sampler app and a iPad version of their popular VocaLive software. These iPad reviews will take a closer look at each.

Whatever you may be searching for, we too are looking for answers and want to help you find them.
