Give your iOS devices a HyperBoost of storage with the iUSBport

image
Sanho makes a variety of battery packs under the HyperJuice name that give you extra power for iOS, Apple, and other USB based devices, but I was intrigued by their latest offering. The iUSBport is a hockey puck sized device that takes any USB hard drive or flash drive and turns it into a wireless storage device!

My Mini: The Unveiling. A Live Accounting...

image

10:01 AM: My iPad mini arrived this morning, Thursday November 15th, finally! Right on time! Actually, I think I got mine a little earlier than some folks, maybe because I was up early that October morning, likely one of the first to place their order online at the Apple Store.

I've been curious as to what it would feel like, seeing the package arrive, unboxing my diminutive new tablet which I already feel I know so much about. I mean, it's not like I don't already have both an iPhone and an iPad 2. Would it still be as big a deal, would this new iDevice WOW me even more than what I'm used to, more than I might expect?

Review: Pilot Brothers HD by G5 Entertainment

image

I’ve been a fan of adventure games since before adventure games had graphics, but nowadays the industry seems a bit unclear on what constitutes a member of the genre.  The big push these days seems to be towards hidden object games, and while I’m a fan of that particular offshoot as well I still like to indulge in the more puzzle / character oriented fare like the old King’s Quest games.  Ironically enough Pilot Brothers doesn’t really fall into that category either, but instead has kind of invented its own style of game play.  It’s a two character single screen puzzle adventure, and it’s one of the best games in the overarching genre of adventure games that I’ve played in quite a while.

Tempo USB Condenser Microphone works with iPad, and Macs and PCs

image
The built in microphone for the iPad leaves a lot to be desired. It's not for professional audio recording, and unfortunately, most professional microphones are designed for desktop use only. So it was refreshing to learn about the products from MXL Microphones. They make high quality microphones that connect via USB. so how does that help ipad owners?

Count on OtterBox for protecting your iPad mini and other gadgets

image
You can always count on OtterBox for heavy duty protective cases but also for rapid development of cases following the unveiling of a new Apple device. Sure enough, my iPad mini was just a few days old when I was able to wrap it in a protective Defender case from OtterBox.

Simply Write for iPad

image

The iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices are truly amazing pieces of hardware, but many people wonder why it is not possible to easily write yourself notes without using the tiny on-screen keyboard.  Fortunately, this problem is now solved by using the Simply Write app which allows users to quickly and easily take notes using either a stylus pen or their finger to jot things down.

In the past there have been apps which allowed this but they required you to learn a complex set of motions to represent different letters, or they made it almost impossible to use.  The whole point of simply write is to make the task of writing notes to yourself much quicker and easier, and it certainly accomplishes this very well.

iPad mini with Wi-Fi and Cellular begins shipping. Due to arrive on Friday 11/16

image

After a long wait, and not knowing exactly when the iPad mini with cellular capability would ship, it seems like the waiting and wondering is over, at least for some of us!

Initially Apple informed me via email, that I could expect my new iPad mini on November 21st, which was still a couple of days earlier than some other pre-order customers were told. But that was then, and this is now.

Holiday Shopping Ideas: Five Best iPad Carryall Bags. [Review]

image

The holidays are once again upon us, and iPhone Life is your trusty resource for informative reviews and great gift ideas this holiday season.

Welcome to my roundup of some of the best iPad carryalls available, here at iPhone Life! The criteria being used for this collective is that each bag must be specifically designed to comfortably accommodate a 10-inch iPad, as well as being unique, ruggedly constructed and built to last. All of the bags featured here are exceptional in their own way, with the common thread that any one of them ought to provide you with years of loyal service. Depending on the conditions you expect the carryalls to be used in and the individual user's temperament, one bag will suit one person better than another might, but I believe that in this roundup there is something for everyone. Whether buying for yourself or for that special someone, I hope you find this compilation both useful and helpful in making your holiday gift bag decisions.

iPad Mini 16GB Wi-Fi Review - Week One

image

This is my 2nd review of the iPad mini after my unboxing post, and a week of heavy use. I have managed to get it mostly configured and working with Wi-Fi and my Bluetooth devices, but I feel like I have barely begun. iCloud is not really what I consider an integrated cloud service though I can't blame Apple. The various service ecosystems do not help matters, and thus I still have not configured all my apps and services (i.e. gmail exchange service for calendars, contacts, etc.), but am getting there slowly but surely. In this post, I focus on the screen, camera and related apps...

iPad Reviews, News, Tips and Tricks

Searching for the best iPad reviews, news or tips and tricks on accessories, apps, gadgets and more is just as important as figuring which apple product you should get in the first place. iPad reviews and news on different products allow you to make a more conscientious decision, but where should you look.  Here at iPhone Life Magazine we work towards answering these very questions.  This page is dedicated to iPad reviews, news, tips and tricks.  This is just one example of a review that we have online (The Green Figure iHolder iPad Stand).

Another great thing about doing research is that sometimes you will find something that you weren't looking for and that can help you.  For example, our page on The Best of 2011 shows our reviews for some of the best products that came out this past year.  This link gives you just a taste of some of the concrete examples of reviews that we do.

Now, the iPad 2 has been around for several months and there have been several companies that have based themselves around the needs of this tablet.  However, it is still a competitive world in the market of accessories.  Anyone could be easily overwhelmed by all the available stands, apps, cases or any of the other niche markets.  We would definitely recommend doing some research and checking out some iPad reviews to get an idea of whats available and how you are going to use your device. The market has several options to choose from today.

Such examples as IK Multimedia, have been on a roll lately, with a slew of hardware and software products tailored for amateur and prosumer musicians. Whether its stands and clips for iPhones and iPads or multitrack recording and sampling software for the iOS platform, IK has been expanding their catalog at a prodigious rate. Their latest releases include a MIDI hardware connector for the iOS platform, a sound sampler app and a iPad version of their popular VocaLive software. These iPad reviews will take a closer look at each.

Whatever you may be searching for, we too are looking for answers and want to help you find them.
