Hello, Cappuccino is a restaurant management game where you are the manager of a new cafe and you have to grow your business so it becomes the most successful cafe in the world. Restaurant management games are nothing new, especially when it comes to playing on mobile devices, but this one does an excellent job at taking the best aspects of all the other games and combining them into this fun app.
If I had to speculate about what kind of twisted game the little girl from Finding Nemo might dream up to play with her fish, this would probably be it. If you have any objections to animal cruelty, even if it’s only electronic, you might not appreciate this game. Along the way poor Yello will get spiked, frozen, torched and all around beaten up, even though ultimately you’re “kindly” returning him to his bowl. The rest of you that can deal with that should actually get a kick out of this game. “Stretch and launch” physics games have become a dime a dozen on the App Store, but ones like Saving Yello still manage to make the genre fun.
This is arguably one of my all-time favorite games, and one that I play literally every (I do not exaggerate) chance I get. If you like combat shooters, you have to get this game, load it up on your devices (all of them), and immerse yourself in the magical combat bliss that is Trigger Fist!! You will not get bored, and you will not want to stop playing. Every sacred goat you snare and protect with your life; every hard-won upgrade and unlock; every perfectly laid ambush you and your team execute will keep you coming back again and again! Do yourself a big favor, and get it NOW, just updated for latest iPhone and iPod touch versions, for ONLY 99 cents... for a limited time I'm sure.
Time for my game reviews of some of the latest and best newcomers to the App Store! We have a whole slew of new games with more on the way, so let’s take a minute to recap what we have so far. These are a few of my favorites of the new crop of games that have popped up in the App Store! This week's reviews include the smash-hit Apocalypse Max as well as new endless runners, Zaxxon Escape and Amazing Runner.
I know it's possible to have more than one really good game in a given genre but as far as hidden object games on the iPad are concerned The Cursed Heart has set an extremely high bar that's going to be hard to reach let alone beat. Tales From The Dragon Mountain doesn't even come close in that regards, and in a way it's unfortunate that I chose this one as my next hidden object game to play. On the other hand, it actually does a couple things really well, and in the end manages to suck you in until the final battle with Strix. You just have to look past a few things like aging graphics, relatively short play time and overly simple mini-games.
($5.00) is the fantastic new game from the veteran video game designers at BitMonster
. While it may be their first collective foray into the world of iOS games under their current indie business incarnation, each one of the six senior developers has impressive experience and credentials which uniquely prepare them to spearhead this new game development company. Lili is a new release as well as Apple Editor’s Choice and it is nothing short of a masterful creation! In fact, I would go so far as to say Lili may be a contender for Best RPG of the year.
Gibbits 2 is an innovative arcade puzzle game where you have to help someone who is hanging from a hangman’s rope. While this may sound quite simple and straight forward, it is actually a bit more complex than that. To free the hanging man you need to carefully aim your bow and arrow to cut the rope. Of course, you have to be extra careful not to accidently hit the man causing him further injury, and if you take too long he will die from suffocation.
There are some pretty fantastic games available for the iPhone and the iPad, each with its own set of challenges, its own creativity, and its own unique design. One that really stood though was called The Iron Mouse. The gameplay was clever, the scenery and design were colorful, and it is always a fun play. Some games are only fun and interesting for the first few levels, but then they get boring as you get used to the gameplay. The Iron Mouse however, is super addictive and will leave you struggling to put down your device. It shares some of the best qualities of today’s most popular games, but rest assured it remains an entirely unique game.
This app ushers in an entirely new standard for gaming apps in the future. Designed for the iPad and iPhone in particular, Phoenix Bird is a 3D masterpiece. It is unlike any app I have seen to date, and I was in love the minute I touched the icon. It has an incredibly addictive gameplay coupled with an incredible view of the world. Anytime you find yourself waiting in a waiting room or have some time to kill on the bus, playing this new game will take you on a beautifully creative and colorful adventure that will make time fly. It is absolutely incredible what developer Imagination Apps has done with such a simple concept.
Getting this out a bit late, but hey there is still time to go grab the racing blast that is Bounty Racer for FREE! If you like Crash B-coot or Super Mario Kart racing, then you will love BR from the Quadsphere. Not only combines varied and challenging courses for single players, but head-to-head action as well (see my review here) and much more. Hurry as time is running out to get it while it's free...!
