Wow! Ok, we've gotta talk about Bastion ($5.00 in the App Store), exclusively for the iPad. This absolutely incredible masterpiece of a game (which existed in console form before but only just now debuted on iOS) has completely blown me away and continues to impress and give me chills the more I play it. I can't speak highly enough of this game and I admit, I almost never give a game a full five out of five stars, but Bastion, in my assessment, has earned all five!
An audio and visual explosion of psychedelic and far-out treats, Bastion is surely a front-runner for best iOS game of the year, certainly in the RPG category.
BONUS- Read to the end for a special sneak peek at a stunning, all-new game from Gameloft, powered by the Unreal Engine: Wild Blood...
Puzzle lovers everywhere can rejoice as there is finally a truly well made jigsaw puzzle app available for the iPhone, iPod Touch and the iPad. Join It – Jigsaw puzzle is a great app that allows players to experience the pleasure of assembling a jigsaw puzzle right on their mobile device or tablet. You will love the fact that you can now pick up your virtual puzzle and work on it anytime you have a few extra minutes. In the past puzzles were reserved only for working on in your home, but now you can enjoy them while on the bus, on a break at work or anywhere else you can imagine!
I don’t recall when I got interested in hidden object games, but I think I was pretty much hooked from the first one I played. They were challenging, yet unlike adventure games I didn’t have to worry about any gaps between play times because there was nothing for me to forget that would affect my progress in the game. Eventually, though, it was nice to see hidden object games start to blend in more adventure game style elements, and now it seems like the line is often blurred between the genres. Still, the concept was starting to get stagnant again… and then along came Nightmare From The Deep: Cursed Heart. I could barely put this game down, and thankfully I have the collector’s edition which has an additional adventure now that I’ve completed the main tale.
Ninja Kittens - Cannons VS Robots takes an already popular arcade shooter genre and adds a skill based puzzle twist. Using your cannon your goal is to defend the Ninja Kitten in each and every level from the invading robots by strategically hitting platforms and other objects in their way. By adding a fast paced element to this popular genre, Ninja Kittens - Cannons VS Robots keeps the user highly entertained and coming back for more - definitely an app worth looking into.
Jealous of your friends with the Kinect gaming systems? Box the Bag
is a new iPad app that makes a clever and sophisticated use of the iPad's camera to achieve a lot of what the Kinect accessory does for Microsoft's Xbox.
Solitaire for cafe addicts, with an offbeat 80s feel... That's my impression of Cafe International. Uh, how many restaurants or shops are seating lone international guests specifically by nationality or gender? None that I know of, but that really isn't the point. The point of Cafe International is good old pattern-matching fun with a multi-player twist that everyone can enjoy. It's also a great way to learn and recognize international flags.

Last week, I posted up on Trigger Fist. Currently my favorite shooter, maybe of all time! So simple of an idea, really--create realistic 3-D combat settings, throw in a sacred goat and a team of highly skilled unfriendlies, and voila--simulated combat bliss! But alas, a miscue in the recent update has been causing problems, especially in terms of saving progress, Game Center stats and app crashes. So I thought I better post up on the current fix.
Welcome to my weekly recap here at iPhone Life. Each week I take a look back at some of the top stories in the world of iOS that made headlines.
