Boost 4200 by Eton ($54.99) is a pocket-sized backup battery pack for your iPhone or iPad.
It measures, 5 inches by 2.5 inches and its slim design allows the Boost to easily fit into a pocket or purse while you're charging your device or just by itself for some power peace of mind.
What I like about the Boost is it's ability to let you know how much juice is left in it. When you pick up the Boost and shake it, it has an LED charge indicator to monitor the battery charge level. That way, you know when you plug your phone in it's going to get charged.
I've always been one to go for the black iDevices. To me there's a sleek elegance to the obsidian shine of the shiny black iPhones and iPads that neither the white nor any of the other colors in Apple’s iDevice color catalog have managed to compete with. There's a certain powerful presence that the black iDevices have, a commanding and semi-ominous look, reminiscent of the iconic black monolith from Kubrick’s 2001: Space Odyssey, that has been my preference ever since they first started offering the old click-wheel iPod in black eons ago. So when left to my own devices, I typically pick black cases to go over my black iPhone.
So when the folks at Lifeproof sent me a couple of white-colored cases, one for my iPhone, the other for my iPad mini, I couldn't help feeling a slight sense of disappointment
I love my iPad mini, and I'm glad I switched, but one thing I've regretted was having to forego the Uzibull case from my full-size iPad. I was one of the original backers of this multipurpose, ultra-protective case, so I was happy to try their iPad mini case.
Just like the full-size version, the case has a flexible, air-cushioned design with a rubbery grip for a comfortable feel.
Cases for iDevices are like functional fashion accessories from past eras (hats, canes, dueling pistols, etc.). A case says you care enough to protect your investment, while allowing you to express your individual style. A heavy duty protective case might say, "I have trouble getting close to people, so I use a titanium robot of a case!" Seriously though, a bad posterior case could prove to be an ice breaker at a party, might get you out of a speeding ticket (never know?), or distract your mom from noticing you forgot to take out the trash yet again (definitely a long shot).
When a product arrives in a package that looks this good, you wonder if what's inside could be worthy of its presentation. But with the iPad mini case from Piel Frama, there is no need to worry! The textured box, with its quality linen paper lining and gold text make for a beautiful presentation, and fortunately, the case inside is just as impressive.
The new, highly-anticipated Lifeproof iPad mini case ($99.99) is now available. Available now at Best Buy as well as at Lifeproof's website, the frē is nothing short of a feat of modern design genius.
The frē takes all of the best elements of its Lifeproof predecessors and fuses them to create a case that is Lifeproof’s best so far. If you are already familiar with Lifeproof cases, you know that the company (recently purchased by Otterbox) excels at crafting some of the best protective cases for iDevices. Sporting slim profiles, supporting full-time use, complete functionality, and control accessibility, Lifeproof cases could perhaps be considered more of an enhancement to your iDevice as opposed to an encumbrance. If Steve Jobs had designed a ruggedized, waterproof, shock proof, snow proof and dust proof iDevice, it likely would have turned out similar to the Lifeproof case. This go-anywhere, do-anything case is simply the best in its class.
Get ready for your summer travels with this checklist of great adventure-proof and travel-ready gear! Summer is here and the time is right for outdoor adventures, exciting travels, lazy days by the water, and enjoying the company of friends and family. To help you make full use of your iDevices during your summer escapades, I've rounded up some top gear, just in time for Father's Day too (hint, hint).
Last month at the Wireless Association-CTIA tradeshow, iPhone Life Magazine hosted a major event at which Otterbox CEO Brian Thomas announced the rugged case maker had acquired Lifeproof case company. Although Thomas made the announcement at our event, we were nonetheless taken by surprise as Thomas revealed the merger of these two exceptional case companies. As someone who appreciates a good protective case for my iDevices, I am excited to see what comes out of this union. Both companies are already known for making some of the best cases on the market, especially in the rugged, military-standard case division.
I love my iPad mini and it's the only item I consistently bring to meetings. But there are times when I want a simple, traditional notepad for taking and sharing notes without relying on technology. So when I saw the Plus Motif combination iPad mini case and notepad ($34.99), I was sold! If that's all the Plus Motif provided, it would be enough, but the case also comes with a combination pen and stylus. But wait, there's more!
The case closes with a magnetic flap, and Plus Motif even offers fashionable replacement flaps that also attach magnetically, so you can change the look of your case on a whim!
There are many great waterproof, rugged protective cases on the market right now, with manufacturers unveiling new ones all the time it seems. Having had the opportunity to evaluate many of the best waterproof, heavy-duty cases currently available, I have to say, Lifeproof’s line of waterproof iDevice cases still steal the show.
The Lifeproof frē for iPhone 5 ($79.99) and the original Lifeproof case for the iPhone 4/4S are excellent examples of what a great full-time use waterproof case can be. With the cases for iPhone 4 and 5 series, we see designs that are as minimalist and unobtrusive without sacrificing an ounce of durability. You could most accurately consider these cases enhancements to the iPhone design, rather than bulky behemoths that obscure the beautiful simplicity of the iPhone.
