Contacts Duster Pro is one of those must have apps for anyone who uses their device to keep track of the information about their friends and family.  As just about anyone knows who has had their phone for any length of time it is very simple to let all your contacts get out of date and unorganized because people today are constantly moving, changing jobs and even getting new phone numbers.  This app will help you organize everything to make them easy to find and use any time you want.

Album Flow brings Cover Flow to iPad!

image

Cover flow, being one of the most attractive electronic music selector schemes to come along since the diner booth jukebox, was left off of the iPad. I have tried a ton of ways to browse mobile music over the years. Cover Flow is the best, at least in terms of coolness factor and more importantly providing the illusion that I own physical recordings. Back in the day when you bought a record, you could take it to a friend's house, play it on their stereo, let them keep it for a week. You could open the jacket and read about the band, study the song lyrics, and catch a brief glimpse of that other world where all the cool people live. You had to imagine what it would be like to hang out with them though--no MTV, YouTube or reality shows. Cover flow brought back a part of the nostalgia of the experience. Album Flow brings cover flow to iPad.

Apple News: By the numbers

image

A few numbers of note from today's Apple event:

585,000 apps, 25 billion downloaded (as noted a few days ago.)  200,000 specifically formatted for iPad!

315 million iOS devices through 2011

62 million iOS devices in Q4 2011

15.4 million iPads in Q4 2011 (they claim HP sold 15.1 million PCs in that quarter!)

362 retail stores, 110 million visitors in Q4 2011 including the bustling Grand Central store (I was there, the day a petition was submitted to improve working conditions at Foxconn.)

100 million iCloud users - Once your data is in the iCloud, it's unlikely you'll want to leave the Apple ecosystem and have to deal with transferring your iLife!  And that my friends, is why it's free!

iPads in the Classroom

image

I've never worked on a Mac. I don't even own an iPhone. But one night four months ago, I borrowed an iPad from our Technology Department to see what all the fuss was about. As a baseball coach and sponsor of our school's broadcasting club, I thought the iPad might be useful for video analysis and editing. And it is. What I never expected was to find so many practical functions for my classroom. The iPad has changed the way I teach high school English, and there’s a pretty good chance it can change the way you teach, too.
