Flex your artistic muscles with the Nomad Brush Flex stylus

image
I've written about Nomad's artistic brushes before but their newest line, the Flex series, adds a nice twist. As with all of their styluses, they use capacitive hairlike synthetic threads as a paintbrush would, but thanks to their conductivity, you can use painting apps, like ArtRage, with greater control. With the Flex line, you can add a second tip and flip the stylus around and have a thicker or thinner brush tip, depending on your needs.

I attended the CES Preview in New York City this summer and got to see a cool merging of app and board games, thanks to iPieces from Pressman Toy Corp. They offer a wide variety of physical game pieces that interact with their free iPad apps.

Cloud Shootout 2 - More apps and services reviewed!

image

This review started out about Download Expert--a simple iOS browser app that let's you grab files from a web site or online service like Dropbox. You want your music, movies, and other files on your iPhone, install Download Expert...blah, blah. Then I started messing with the Dropbox app to troubleshoot some issues, and next thing I know, I'm trying a completely new service called OfficeDrop that has it's own awesome iOS app and web service for syncing files. Sheesh! Round and round on the cloud wheel we go (see my previous shootout here). Though the shootout was more about document editing, I covered a few cloud storage services there. You can learn more about these services and apps in this, yet another cloud storage review, and pseudo-shootout...Part 2, you might say...

App Review: Hello,Cappuccino (Cafe Manager)

image

Hello, Cappuccino is a restaurant management game where you are the manager of a new cafe and you have to grow your business so it becomes the most successful cafe in the world.  Restaurant management games are nothing new, especially when it comes to playing on mobile devices, but this one does an excellent job at taking the best aspects of all the other games and combining them into this fun app.

More rumors: updated retina iPad, iPad mini to start at $329, iBooks 3.0 to be announced

image

Rumors continue to surface as we look ahead to Tuesday's announcements from Apple. 9To5Mac is reporting today that the iPad mini will start at $329, though their sources didn't specify whether the base model would have 8 or 16GB of RAM. That price does seem a bit high for 8GB. They say that they expect the models with the ability to connect to the cellular data network to add a $130 premium to the price, as with the current iPad models.

Tiffen's powerful photo editing tools put Instagram to shame

image
I'm not a big fan of Instagram. It can be pretty obvious when a photo has been through an Instagram filter. But what if you really want to manipulate an image, perhaps to make it look like it came from an old film reel? You are going to want more fine grained (pun intended) control compared to Instagram.
