Invoxia Audioffice Goes Universal, with Lightning, 30pin, and USB Support

image

When I last wrote about Invoxia's AudiOffice, I had one complaint... its lack of Lightning support for modern iOS devices. Fortunately, its new device fixes this. I actually had another minor complaint—its name, which led me to joke that it was an accessory for Audi automobiles! In the latest version, the mixed-case name is gone, now simply called Audioffice ($299).

The newer Audioffice is an elegant accessory, with a companion app, invoxia (free) that turns your iPhone, iPad, or Android device into a full function conference room speakerphone. You also can use internal and alternative apps like FaceTime, Skype, etc.

LIMBO and BADLAND: Just Can't Stop Playing These Awesome Games!

image

I may make this a new category of review: Games so addictive and interesting I can't stop playing them. And this week's winners are LIMBO ($4.99), and BADLAND (Currently free)two fabulous horizontal-scrolling games I could not seem to stay away from. LIMBO is not just a game, but a true work of art, immersing your adolescent character in a realistic, dark and very scary world (I was flinching and jumping in my seat playing this game). BADLAND offers similarly superb backdrop scenes, but with bouncy, full-tilt maze-style action that is just ridiculous fun. The polar opposite of the foreboding LIMBO, you use BADLAND for a spot of cheer! Uh, you'll need it...

What I Played This Week—Cubemen 2, Solar Walk, Abducted Coming Soon

image

I have a couple of great apps for review this week and some news about an exciting new 3D action/adventure and puzzle-solving game coming soon, called Abducted. The first app I played this week was Cubemen 2 ($1.99). Cubemen is an engaging real-time strategy and tower-defense game that puts you in command of a squad of blocky soldiers. You can vector them to protect your base, or move them out to attack and destroy the enemy. The second app I played (though "playing" is not really the right word) this week, is the new, improved, and simply astounding Solar Walk ($2.99)! I used it to research earthly and extra-terrestrial satellites and to follow the beautiful and inspiring Cassini mission to Saturn!

How To Design an Effective App for iPad

The iPad is a perfect example of technology that's usable, useful, and meaningful and has become a mainstay in millions of households. The following tips can help you consider the most important factors when developing a mobile app for iPad.

Button TrackR is like Find My iPhone for all Your Important Stuff

image

Find My iPhone is great, but do you ever find yourself wishing you could use it to find your wallet, keys, purse, and other important items? That's where Button TrackR by Phone Halo comes in. With its companion iOS app, Item TrackR (free), you can use your iOS device to find assorted gadgets!

I was already a supporter of Phone Halo's Wallet Trackr project, and once again, I put my money where my mouth is, via crowdfunding site Indiegogo.com as a paid supporter/investor. The new Button TrackR is an even smaller disc, which you attach to your important items and use with its free companion app to track your valuables. I've funded that project, too.

With more than $300,000 in pledges, the new project blew through its $15,000 funding level, but you still have a chance to get early adopter pricing and take some credit for helping. Check it out on Indiegogo and never lose your important items again!

What I Played This Week — Sledventure, Goldenoid 3D, Cubemen 2, and Kingdom Rush Frontiers!

image

I have a couple of mini reviews, one news item, and a game preview for you this week. Goldenoid 3D builds on the old brick breaker clones with 3D awesomeness; Sledventure is a snow fort sliding/smashing block buster of sorts. You can grab them in the App Store for less than a $2 (a free ad-injected version of Goldenoid also available). Plus in this edition, some news on a new Kingdom Rush edition, and a YT preview of Cubemen 2. Let's dig in, shall we?
