Better protection for iPad than most - but READ the fine print!

The G-Form Extreme Sleeve features a patented "impact absorption" material that is soft, flexible, lightweight, and water-resistant.

ZooGue "Genius" iPad Case

image

Zoogue’s, leather-folio style "Genius" case for the iPad is a "HOMERUN".  The Genius case is a great case with many features to accommodate the user’s needs.  This company has constructed one of the finest leather folio iPad cases to date.  It has features for most every situation.  I really liked the idea of being able to fasten the iPad case to the headrest of an automobile.  When my iPad is in the Zoogue case I am confident that it's safe and secure.

HyperShield is Hyper Cool in Denim!

Sanho is one of those accessory vendors that makes the Apple ecosystem better.  They don't try to rip off Apple or other accessory vendors with cheap knockoffs.  They either build a better mousetrap by improving on an existing accessory or they invent something new that you didn't know you needed until you saw it!  You might know of them under their brand name HyperMac and their HyperJuice external batteries for MacBooks, iOS and USB devices.

Review: Mobile Cloth

image

The folks at Mobile Cloth sent me over their screen cleaning tool called, “Mobile Cloth” to test out. This accessory comes in two sizes and has a special pattern that they call “Nubs.”  “Each nub acts like hundreds of tiny suction cups to pull fingerprints smudges, and germs away from the surface of your device and into the cloth with one or two swipes.”

Don’t let the shortness of this review fool you, as I feel this is a pretty effective product.

V-MODA Crossfade M-80 Headphone Review *Revisited*

Readers may recall my initial review of V-MODA's Crossfade M-80 Headphone and the less than stellar reception it received. Consequently, V-MODA founder Val Kolton contacted me about his authentic concern regarding my listening experience and graciously sent over several competing on-ear headsets to compare to the M-80. Here are my results.

In addition to the M-80, the other headsets Val sent (all of which were either as expensive or more expensive than the M-80) were:

Hand it to the Handstand iPad case

image

I confess, I am a serial case-swapper.  I get to try out a lot of cases, as a writer for iPhone Life Magazine, so I can pick and choose the right case for the right job.  Maybe it's a waterproof iPhone case for my trip to Cancun, or glow-in-the-dark iPhone case I used on a recent camping trip.  The same applies for my iPad 2.  I have a trade show coming up and I expect to be demoing my apps on my iPad, so the case I will be using is the Handstand.

NuVue Anti-Glare Screen Protector - Break time for your eyes!

image

One complaint I have about the iPad's screen is the beautiful, glossy surface. Sure it looks great, until you actually touch it. I'm tempted to wipe it with something 10 seconds after turning it on. The glassy surface is also not optimal for quick and constant finger dragging when gaming, and glare and reflections can be be distracting. The NuVue Anti-Glare protective screen guard will diminish these issues.

New audio accessories are constantly evolving for all iOS devices, and starting earlier this year at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), there were some great ones in action. Most prefer something compact, with good quality sound, and affordability. An integrated app is nice, but not crucial.

The Bose MIE2i wired mobile headset

are perfect examples of earbuds that are compact, have great sound quailty and are affordable. They are highly rated for both sound quality and comfort. They come with three sizes of StayHear silicon tips and an answer/end button on the inline microphone. The reviews say the quality of sound is tops. Note that these are standard earbuds - no noise-isolating to block unwanted sound.
A comparison of these earbuds and other great accessories are in the 2011 Best Gear article.
