How to Feng Shui Your Workspace with Ergotech iPad and Monitor Stands

image

With spring approaching, it’s important to add fresh stimulus to your living space. While this can be as simple as buying a new wall hanging or rearranging the furniture, I decided to improve my home computing space to make it ergonomic, space efficient, and flexible. One way to edge closer to tech Feng Shui is to try Ergotech’s flexible mounting systems. I tried the VersaStand ($79) for iPad and the Freedom Arm ($159) monitor mount with an articulating arm you can attach to the side of your desk. Mounting my various screens moved them up and off my desk, giving me room to work, and the option to pull them close and move them as necessary.

iPad users have a number of wireless keyboards to choose from to help alleviate the constraints of the iPad's touchscreen keyboard. But the Touchfire Screen-Top Keyboard for iPad ($49.95) is the only product I know of designed as an on-screen keyboard overlay to accelerate typing speed.

Insanely Great iPad Stands from — You Guessed It — Insanely Great Products

image

Upon first glance, Insanely Great Products FrameShift stands look more like automotive parts for a Ferrari than a device for propping up iOS devices. I've written about Insanely Great Products before, a California-based company that produces clever, American-made products.

How To Navigate Your New York Urban Adventure with iOS

I spent most of the day traveling from Seattle to New York. We left a little late as the cold weather precipitated the need to deice our plane's wings.

Wren V5AP Review — Superior Design, Sound Quality Plus AirPlay Streaming

image

This year's Consumer Electronics Show had its share of wireless audio components, several of which I included in iPhone Life's coverage of the event. I found several new Wi-Fi AirPlay compatible speakers. Of the lot, I finally received a Wren V5AP ($399) review unit last week. Of all the Wi-Fi speakers I’ve had the chance to review in recent years, I must say this one truly gives the Sonos Play line a run for its money.

Munitio's New SV Earphones: Precision Sound, Luxurious Style

image

"To hear a full frequency of a recording, you don't even have to turn it up loud!"

-Kool Kojak, multi-platinum songwriter who produced Ke$ha, Nicki Minaj, Flo Rida, Katy Perry

Recently, I had the opportunity to connect with the team at Munitio, a precision sound brand specializing in lifestyle electronic accessories. Pronounced “Muni-she-yo,” as in the Latin word for fortification and defense, Munitio audio gear embodies strength, authenticity, and style. Before this year's Consumer Electronics Show, I must admit, I wasn't familiar with this small San Diego-based company. Now that I am, I am excited to tell you more about it and share my review of one of its flagship products, the new SV earphones.

Treat your iPad mini with Cases by Kavaj

image

I "downsized" from a full size iPad in favor of the iPad mini, because it's a pleasure to carry around the mini compared to the somewhat burdensome iPad. But when I added a case to my mini, it became bulky again.

I still prefer a case to protect my valuable device from scratches, but also for comfort and style. Thankfully, the folks at Kavaj have created a set of luxurious cases that add minimal bulk yet perform admirably. Because they use high quality leather, each case is unique and may take some time to stretch and adjust to fit the iPad mini precisely, allowing for the power button to work, for example.

New audio accessories are constantly evolving for all iOS devices, and starting earlier this year at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), there were some great ones in action. Most prefer something compact, with good quality sound, and affordability. An integrated app is nice, but not crucial.

The Bose MIE2i wired mobile headset

are perfect examples of earbuds that are compact, have great sound quailty and are affordable. They are highly rated for both sound quality and comfort. They come with three sizes of StayHear silicon tips and an answer/end button on the inline microphone. The reviews say the quality of sound is tops. Note that these are standard earbuds - no noise-isolating to block unwanted sound.
