Passcode-protect important information in Contacts

Setting a Passcode on your iPhone (screenshot)If you store important information on your iPhone, you’ll want to prevent anyone from accessing it in the event it is lost or stolen. To do this, you’ll need to set a passcode. Once activated, you’ll have to enter the four digit code when you turn on your iPhone. Here’s how you do it:

  1. Tap on the Settings icon in the Home screen and select General at the bottom of the Settings screen.
  2. Tap on Passcode Lock and enter a four-digit passcode. (You’ll have to enter it a second time to confirm.)
  3. Tap on Require Passcode and specify how long your iPhone must be inactive before you’ll have to enter the passcode. (Immediately, 1, 5, 10, 15, 30 minutes, and 1 hour). Note that shorter times increase security.
