YouTube is the most overlooked resource that comes with your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch. In my case, it has opened up a whole new world of free content and hours of entertainment for my daughter Lillie. Lillie was born with Cerebral Palsy and has difficulty controlling her muscles. One of the best therapies for her is cognitive sensory stimulation, and music and video are very good for this.

When Apple TV was announced, I was excited about the possibility that she could watch YouTube cartoon videos on our 46" flat screen TV. However, finding the same videos on her iPad and then again on the Apple TV, was time consuming and a hassle.

There are many programs available for the Mac and PC that let you add sound tracks to video clips captured by your iOS device. However, that involves exporting video to your computer, adding a soundtrack, and transferring the clip back to your iOS device. None of the built-in apps let you do this on the iOS device.

  • TV Signal: This sets your specific TV output signal.

  1. Open Videos. (On the iPhone, Videos is located in the iPod app.)

  3. If the movie/show does not automatically start playing, tap on the Play button.

To control the playback of your movie or TV show:

  • Tap on Done at the top left corner of the screen to close the video player.
  • Tap and hold the fast-forward or rewind buttons to move the video backwards or forwards.
