How do I change message alerts?

Every time you receive a text message, your iPhone tries to catch your attention with alerts. Unfortunately, it will keep reminding you (twice more) if you ignore the alert. If once is enough for you, you can turn off the repeat alerts. Here's how you do it:

  1. Open Settings> Messages.
  2. Slide the Repeat Alert to OFF.
Note that this just turns off repeated alerts. You'll still get one alert for each incoming message. If you don't want to hear any sounds, turn the ringer switch on the side of your phone to the OFF position.


How do I send a text message to multiple people?

Group MMSYou can send a text message to many people at the same time. Here's how you do it:

  1. Open Messages.
  2. Tap on the New Message icon in the upper right corner of the screen. (It looks like a pencil resting on a square piece of paper.)
  3. Type in the name or number of the person you want to text. You can also tap the "+" to open Contacts. Keep adding names into the To: field.
  4. Type in your text message in the text field and tap on Send.


How do I add emoticons to text messages?

Add Emoticons to TXT MessagesEmoticons are the little icons created from punctuation and symbol keys and are inserted into text to indicate your mood or intention. Most desktop computer programs automatically convert symbols to graphical emoticons. For example, if you type in :-) most programs will automatically convert it to a smily face.

EmoticonsBy default, you cannot create graphical emoticons on the iPhone.


How do I turn off previews of incoming text messages?

Preview incoming txt messages on/offEvery time you receive an incoming text message, your iPhone displays a little preview of the message. This can become annoying if you receive a lot of messages. In addition, you may not want others to see every conversation you have going on. By default, this feature is on. Here's how you turn it off:

  1. Open Settings> Messages.
  2. Slide the Show Preview option to OFF.

Stop your iPhone from showing previews of text messages as they come in.


How do I forward a text message?

Forwarding SMSForwarding a text message is a built-in feature of the Messages app. You can even forward several text messages at the same time. Here's how to forward a text message:

  1. Open Messages.
  2. Tap on the conversation that contains the message(s) you want to forward.
  3. Tap on Edit at the top right corner of the screen.

  4. Tap on the message(s) you want to forward.
  5. Tap on the Forward button at the bottom right of your screen (see image).
  6. Type in the name or number of the people you want the message(s) forwarded to. Optionally, tap the "+" to bring up your contacts.
  7. Tap on Send.


How do I send video in a text message?

Video MMSMMS stands for Multimedia Messaging Service, and it makes it possible for you to be able to send pictures and videos as text messages from your iPhone. (You can also send them as e-mail attachments.) Here's how to send videos with text messages:

You can send videos through an MMS text message; if the video file size is too big, the iPhone will give you the option of resizing them.

  1. Open the Camera app.
  2. Tap on the Camera Roll button on the bottom left corner of the screen.
  3. Tap on the video you want to send.
  4. Tap on the Action icon in the lower left corner of the screen.


How do I send a photo in a text message?

Text message an image from the Photos app:

  2. Tap on MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service).
