Lifedge Offers Waterproof, Heavy-Duty Protection for iDevices.

image

Lifedge is a relatively new company on the iDevice case manufacturing scene. Based in the UK, their products can be purchased both locally and abroad. Lifedge specializes in creating classy, low-profile, ruggedized waterproof cases for iDevices. Currently their catalog of cases consists of an iPhone 5 version, (which is compatible with the 5s, though without allowing Touch ID use) and an iPad 2–4 compatible case. As of yet, they do not offer a case option for the iPad mini or mini with Retina, nor do the have an iPad Air case, but hopefully we will see a wider case selection of iDevice cases from this fledgling company in the near future. Stay tuned to iPhone Life and I'll keep you posted as their product line continues to grow. In the meantime, let's take a closer look at some of the details and specifics of these waterproof and highly durable iDevice cases.

The Wait is Over! Lifeproof's New iPad Cases are Available Now.

image

There are a good many rugged, heavy-duty, protective cases on the market for our iDevices, and over the years I've tried out most of them. Again and again I am reminded that case maker Lifeproof consistently produces the most reliable, high-quality all-purpose protective case you can find. Not only do they manufacture some of the best waterproof iDevice cases on the market, they manage to do so while keeping their case designs in line with the Jobsian vision of a sleek, low-profile, and elegantly beautiful pocket computing device. Allowing full functionality and interactivity with your iDevice, the Lifeproof cases are, simply put, what the iPhone and iPad would look like, if Jobs had designed them to be shock proof, dirt proof, and liquid proof. No more, no less. Lifeproof just released their long anticipated line of cases for the iPad Air as well as the iPad mini. Continue reading to find out how these new cases deliver on their promise to provide total protection for life on the go.

A Case That's a Work of Art, from Strong N Free

image

Steve Jobs didn't like the idea of keeping an iPhone in a case. So much effort went into making a functional work of art, that hiding it in a case was sacrilegious to him. Maybe he needed to get his eyes on the Berlin and Sydney Birdcage Designer Cases from Strong N Free.

Get a Life... Charger Case from Ontrion

image

You can never have enough power, for your iPhone and other gadgets, and Ontrion knows that. As many others have done, they have introduced a case for the iPhone 5/5s, the LifeCHARGE Battery Case ($79.99). But where others have fallen short, Ontrion has gone a step further. Specifically, many such cases obstruct the headphone jack, and include an extension cable that you're supposed to carry around. That extension is going to get lost or forgotten, making you rely on the built in speakers.

LAX Gadgets Wooden Case with a Polymer Lining

image

I get to try a lot of cases, and I'm rarely impressed, but one case maker at CES hit the right mix with their wood-backed cases that use a polymer interior. The problem with 100 percent wood or bamboo cases is they can chip, crack, or respond to humidity and lose their ability to safely hold your iPhone.

Waterproofer Liquipel Now Protects Against Impacts Too

image

I was already impressed by Liquipel's nanotechnology that lets them take your existing technology and make it waterproof, but at CES, I was able to see a demonstrating of their new SKINS Impact Screen Protector ($24.99-$34.99). While most screen protectors are designed to prevent scratches, this protector is designed to take the brunt of serious impacts and keep your phone safe.

Optrix Offers More Ways to Record Your Extreme Video

image

While GoPro gets all the attention, I've found a better way to record action-packed video. Instead of paying $300 or more for a dedicated camera and accessories, why not use your existing iPhone? That way you can edit your video right on the device that recorded it, using iMovie and other video FX apps. And of course you can share your video using iMessage, Mail, AirDrop, and more.

Snow Lizard's SLXtreme May Just Be the Ultimate iPhone 5/5s Survival Tool

image

I've referred to Snow Lizard’s SLXtreme iPhone cases before as the case to use in a survival situation. If you’re an outdoorsy or military type, or an extreme adventurer or survivalist, the SLXtreme for the iPhone 5/5s ($149.99) is without a doubt a perfect case for you. Its rugged design, with its high level of impact protection, waterproofness, and the solar panel incorporated into its backside, which charges a built-in 2,550 mAh battery, make this a superior case for extended use when traveling to wild and challenging environments or for extended treks off-grid. While its size and heft may make this case too big and heavy for the average, casual iPhone user, for the person who requires the reliability and protection of one of the most rugged and dependable cases on the market, this particular case should fit their needs nicely.

Use the Magic of Magnets to Charge your iPhone

image

I've written about Buqu's wireless charging cases before, so I was excited to see their latest offering, the Mobile Battery Pack. As expected, they offer wireless charging when the phone is placed on their charging stand, but now this external battery pack also leverages the magnetic charging design.

Wello is a Health Tracker that Doubles as an iPhone case

image

Wello, the iPhone case from Azoi Inc., is not your ordinary health tracker. The case itself uses hidden sensors for quick health readings, without the need for a wearable device.
