TUDIA Klip Fixes Flaw in Apple Cables

image

Apple does a lot of things right. But its Lightning and 30-pin cables, while sleek in design, are not very robust. I've gone through many of them as the edges get frayed. Sure, there are replacement cables and I've used many of those too. But some cases, like the OtterBox, only have a small opening, which means only an official Apple cable or the rare third-party cable will work with it. If you use an official Apple cable, but want to protect it, TUDIA is crowdfunding an adapter that acts as a stress relief for the end of an Apple cable.

Keep an Eye on Your Pet With CES Best of Show Winner Petcube

image

At January's CES, the iPhone Life team was impressed with the Petcube ($199). So much in fact that we gave it one of our Best of Show awards. The Petcube lets you check in on your dog or cat (or other pet) remotely. Recently, I had the opportunity to try the Petcube in my home, with my own puppy and I can say the award was well-deserved. In fact, the PetCube is on sale now for $169, making it an even better deal than when we first awarded them that honor.

iPad Pro Screen Could Be Bigger but Thinner

image

It's a poorly kept secret that Apple is looking at making a bigger iPad, dubbed an iPad Pro, likely with a 12.9-inch screen. And we have seen indications that such an iPad would make use of Apple's new Force Touch sensors to detect how hard a user presses, and respond differently based on that pressure. But to add a Force Touch sensor similar to the ones in their new MacBooks, Apple may need to make more room available. If they can make the already slim iPad screen even thinner, this could provide the space they need.
