QuickOffice Pro HD Now Ready for Curtain with PowerPoint Editor

image

PowerPoint is the perfect application for an iPad. Graphical in orientation with messages simplified to the point of contention and very photographic in its organization. But Microsoft's ambivalence toward the platform meant it was left to third parties to create the PowerPoint experience for the iPad.  With version 4.5 of Quickoffice Pro HD, Quickoffice users can now edit native PowerPoint files. Well, sort of.

SRS’ MyTunes Pro Cranks Out Incredible Sound from the iPhone and iPad 's Tiny, Tinny speaker

image

As some of you may have realized, I’ve been on a bit of a writing hiatus thanks to my extremely hectic schedule, so when SRS asked me to take a look at MyTunes Pro, I didn’t – with all honesty – have much intention of covering the app... until I used it!

It’s so loaded with features that I had to share it with the iPhone Life readers! According to SRS, both MyTunes Pro for iPhone and MyTunes Pro HD for iPad were designed to enhance any i-device’s ability to play lossless and compressed digital music to sound truer to the studio recording.

Considering how many apps are available in the Apple app store, not to mention how many are actually on my iPhone (close to 300), it's a bit daunting of a task to come up with only 10 apps to recommend here and now! There are simply so many amazing and award-winning apps out there and each is suited to an individual uniquely.

Facebook just announced they are purchasing the popular iPhone photo sharing app Instagram. Facebook has struck a deal with Instagram to acquire the company for $1 Billion in a mix of cash and stock shares in Facebook. That's a LOT of money...

Mark Zuckerberg made a post stating he is committed to building up Instagram independently of Facebook, and that it will not be integrated with Facebook’s social network.

Violet Storm App Review

image

Violet storm is a game which has the same general concept as the ‘Asteroids’ game from years ago.  Flying through space while shooting at different things which if you don’t kill them they will cause damage.  This is much more complex than the original asteroids game though.  First, there are many different types of enemies including asteroids but also enemies which will attack you and pursue you.

During the game you collect different ‘power ups’ which make your weapons more powerful or give you additional life or shielding.  As you progress through the progressively more difficult waves you’ll be running into more and more complex enemies which will not only attempt to crash into you but also attack you with weapons of their own.

Look to Livio to make your next car more iOS friendly

image

Our readers know of Livio Radio (see my review here) for their Bluetooth in car radio hardware kit, available at your local Radio Shack, but you may not know that they have created Livio Connect, an API targeted at hardware makers and app developers. I had the opportunity to speak with Jake Sigal, CEO of Radio.

Buzan Brings MindMapping Freedom to the iPad

image

I like to Mindmap. I organize my life, my writing and my projects with mindmaps. And ThinkBuzan, the software arm of mindmap inventor Tony Buzan, has just released what may be the ultimate experience for mind mappers: iMindMap Freedom. Before Freedom, iMindMap was an OK app on iOS and a pretty substaintial authoring environment on the Mac and PC.
