Review: ThinkFlood's RedEye Mini

image

Well, I have had some time to try out this new RedEye Mini. What’s different about this than their original?  A lot. The original was more of a base station unit that was tied to one room. This new Mini is all about Portability and multi iDevice usage. You can keep it at home, or you can bring it on the go. You can use it in an iPad, an iPhone, or an iPod Touch. There are no restrictions, and as you can see from the pictures, it comes with a handy keychain case. Plus, this unit is more affordable and I think this added with the fact it is portable, makes it a better value.

Looky Here - my teeth are clean!

So who needs a digital mirror on your iPhone 4? After all, I have a front facing camera now, and i can look at myself in that.

Deposit a Check from iPhone...

image

USAA has now added a direct iPhone check-deposit feature to it's mobile banking app that allows you to use the iPhone's internal camera to photograph and deposit a check. I know the on-line banking business these days is comparable to Fort Knox, but iPhone security (especially in the case of jailbroken phones), is not exactly considered by some to be the highest achiever in this category. What do you think...would you use your iPhone to remotely deposit checks?

My Gosh, which page did I put my app on and which folder did I put my app in? I'm so confused now!

Download Meter for Wi-Fi/ 3G/ EDGE/ GPRS -- $1.99 app lets you conveniently track data usage

image

Download Meter for Wi-Fi/ 3G/ EDGE/ GPRS is a great idea. It lets you conveniently track your data usage -- which is important now that AT&T no longer offers unlimited data. I've never found it that convenient to access my usage on the iPad, and it takes forever to get the info over my Edge connection. This app simply tracks it at the level of your device, so you don't need to long into your AT&T account. It has features such as meters that give you a sense for your usage at a glance. Very useful app, with quite a few good reviews.

A square deal on warranty coverage because 'Stuff Breaks.'

image

Stuff Breaks.  So says SquareTrade, the folks who offer an extended warranty for your iPhone and iPad, among other devices.  It's true, and perhaps even more so with the abundance of glass on the iPhone 4.  I have always kept my iPhone in a case, because, frankly, I'm clumsy and prone to dropping it.  However, the new iPhone 4 is so slim and elegant that you might want to keep it unveiled. Case or no case, you should check out the SquareTrade offer.  For $99 you get two years of coverage (or you can be billed $5.99/month).  That represents a 20% limited time offer.  You can transfer or cancel at any time and get a prorated rebate.

Now that we've got iOS4, what can we do with it.

iPad Apps for IT Professionals

11 apps help IT professionals manage systems

The iPad represents a truly unique computer interaction experience for the IT Professional, especially for Network and System Administrators as well as Help Desk Professionals and even programmers. For the adventurous technologists who attempted to control desktops or query and manage servers from their 320x480 resolution iPhones, the iPad’s 1024x768 screen is like moving from an office cubicle to a warehouse. Even so, iPad applications have to be optimally designed to maximize this screen size so that the interactive resources are as available and intuitive to interact with as possible.
