With all the chatter in the blogosphere, about new products soon to be released, and patent battles being fought on all fronts in the courts of law, I think it's important to keep in mind the old expression: "You ain't seen nuthin' yet!" Truly, hasn't this week been a great example of that. With the court cases bringing out details Apple would just as likely have preferred to keep private, we have been granted a rare insight into the evolution of products in the Apple iDevice chain, as well as having been given glimpses into what Apple had in mind, in prototype form, two years ago. That said, can you imagine what Cupertino has in store for us in say, 5 years? That's not that long. Think about it. Within 5 years, devices and functions that are now, only in prototype/patent form, may very well be seeing the light of day. It's not for nothing that Johny Ive says that the products Apple is working on now, are some of the best, most exciting products Apple has ever invented!

The Third Rail slim case for the iPhone is an ingenious invention and perhaps one of my favorite portable charging solutions for the iPhone. Its versatility is a huge plus as is it’s minimalistic yet still, very protective design. The Third Rail is indeed a slim, stylish and low-key option for a protective shield for the iPhone and as a stand-alone case by itself, would be worth considering. When you add to the equation, the fact that the Third Rail case is crafted to accept snap-on battery packs (as many as 6 of the ¼ inch deep, 1,250 mAh batteries can be stacked on) this case is hard to pass up! For anyone looking for a way to increase the time between having to plug your iPhone into a wall charger, while still keeping with the iPhone’s sleek and trim aesthetic, this is a case worth considering.

Having been an avid traveler since the days of dial up internet and the original "Rick Steve's - Europe Through the Back Door", I can't help but thank the late Steve Jobs for blessing my life with the iPhone and the incredible mobile app. In my college years I recall trudging through the streets of Seville in search of a pay phone, ten pound travel guide with fold out maps in hand. As my fair skin rapidly morphed from white to red and sweat beaded down my face, I called out to the God's praying for an easier way to travel. Five years later, Apple introduced the iPhone and my prayers were answered.

I'm looking forward to iOS 6, which will be coming out this fall. I'm traveling right now and have been using the current Maps app extensively. It will be interesting to see how Apple's forthcoming Maps app works in comparison. I'm hoping that it'll have all the features I like in the current app, and more. And according to the latest rumor from Bloomberg, one new feature will be Yelp check-ins. This is Yelp's social location-sharing feature that's similar to the popular Foursquare.

Over a year ago I was off the main taxi routes in the outskirts of downtown San Francisco. I asked my client to call a taxi so I could return to my hotel. As has become so common these days, he suggested offer me this courtesy, but that I download an app. That app was Uber. So I downloaded the app, created an account and added in my credit card information.
