Social Networking

With CrowdZone, the CROWD's the thing!

image

Shakespeare wrote "The play's the thing", in Hamlet, but with CrowdZone (FREE, http://www.crowdzone.com), that could easily become "The CROWD's the thing".  CrowdZone is a social networking tool focused on sporting events.  In fact, CrowdZone is probably the ultimate tailgating app!  You create a profile and see what events are happening today.  You join an event, whether you are at the game or watching at home or at a sports bar.  You can leverage the location-aware capabilities of the iPhone and find like-minded users nearby!  Root for your team, chat with others, and earn "trophies" for your own comments.  You can even earn real world rewards, like tickets!

I'm really having fun with Fun Box!

image

I just had to write again about how much fun I'm having with Social Fun Box. One of the things I didn't like about Facebook before is the limit on graphics I can use. I LOVE graphics!

Now, with Social Fun Box I can express myself with these cute images. I can put them on my own page, give gifts (for free!), and put some on my friends pages.

Here's my current FB page:

Love this app! You can read my complete review of Social Fun Box HERE

Tweetsii — free app for location-based tweeting

image

I don't use Twitter that much, but I like the idea of Tweetsii. This newly released free app lets you see what people around you are tweeting. It also lets you "geo-tag" your tweets so that they're associated with a particular place, and you can add photos to the tweets. A wide range of other features include the ability to see what's trending nearby, see tweets from particular locations worldwide, and much more. Pretty amazing.

Being Social with Social Fun Book!

image

I LOVE Facebook and I LOVE graphics. Now, I can have both. With Social Fun Book, I can add all kinds of fun graphics to my status updates. There are over 100 over them included on this app!

I’m a bit stingy and refuse to pay for “gifts” on Facebook. Now, with the Social Fun App, I can give “gifts” for free. I like that!

Meanwhile, on Verizon: free Skype calls coming next month

image

Skype on the iPhone is old news, but the most frequent complaint about the iPhone app is that it doesn't work over AT&T's 3G network -- you have to be in WiFi range to make or receive a Skype call.  Meanwhile, those of us with other smartphones haven't even had that capability, hitting our heads against shaky, unfriendly voice-over-IP (VOIP) implementations such as Sipdroid.  But today's announcement of a partnership between Verizon and Skype promises to bring Skype to

Some of the most interesting items at CES don't use electricity.  We found several accessories that enhance the electronic lifestyle, while made entirely out of non-technical materials.
