The Daily Planet is a perfect application for anyone who is on the go and wants to know the latest news. Perhaps you want to know if it’s going to rain later or if it’s going to be sunny out. What I played this week includes a mix of apps for both work and play, and warn you this will be a lengthy column, as also have a bit of game news to share at the end. So, let's jump in--play before work, as the saying goes: Bounty Racer (beta) is an exquisite crash cart-esque 3D racing menagerie (should be released next week). Second, Kingdom Rush for iPhone is engaging, if tiny, Tower Defense fun with rousing vocals and clashing swords to keep you alert through endless enemy waves. Pearltrees is a "web curation" app (web-content mind mapping/sharing) with an interesting way to find/share online content. Stitcher is to news radio and podcasts what Slacker or Pandora are to music. Lot's to look at, so let the WIPTW madness commence forthwith!

It's been a very active morning when it comes to the rumors swirling about concerning upcoming Apple developments! Here's a summary of some of today's big stories:

One of my fav news reader apps (see our Appy Geek review here) got an update last week. The only thing that jumped out at me on iPad was additional footer ads that now appear (which seemed to disappear by changing screen orientation). Apparently, there are more features under the hood now for iPhone/iPod touch. Things like a new "Word Cloud" feature that I still don't quite understand, but maybe the added PR release below will help explain better than I can...

If you haven't heard of Mobli, or tried out the App (available for free in the Apple App store), now is a great time! Mobli, the new, up-and-coming social photo/video App is currently hosting a wild month of daily contests, with a brand new, New iPad as the prize, EVERY DAY! Yes indeed, you read that right! In an unprecedented move, Mobli is, for the month of May, giving away a New iPad every single day! The requirements for entering the different daily contests are quite simple, relatively speaking, considering the prize.
