AppStand is a digital picture frame and more!

You’re limited only by imagination on ways to use the AppStand with your iPhone. For example, I use it on my desk to show off my Reef3D aquarium app – love this! I use it with an alarm clock app to keep me on time for my appointments. I use it with my calculator app to add numbers. I use it with my dictionary app or with Safari to do research while writing. And if I want to be entertained while cooking dinner, it's a great TV stand for watching videos on my iPhone. I’m sure you will think of many, many more ways to use this handy device.

Zinio — free app for reading magazines

Zinio is a leader in electronic versions of major national magazines, with their editions including our very own iPhone Life magazine (4 issues for $10). Zinio does a good job of digitally replicating the experience of reading a print magazine. And now they have a Zinio Magazine Reader out for the iPhone. You need to be a Zinio subscriber, or you can purchase single issues or subscription via the app.

CES: LG Mobile at CES

Not iPhone or iPod related, but never hurts to know what some of the competition is up to. LG and Motorola are showing off some sweet mobile tech here at CES (finally got over to Central Hall today). Both are featuring tricked out phones, and the tech diversity on display at this show is stunning!

CES Update and Chevon Hicks Meeting

My first post from CES, and you can see that the booth is coming along swimmingly, and the iPhoneLife team is just about ready for prime-time.

What Google's "Nexus One" Means For Us

The Last several months have seen an avalanche of new Smart Phones with brand new operating systems, incredibly sophisticated hardware crammed into ever shrinking form factors with wildly changing pricing schemes and carriers vying to be the first to have an exclusive on it.

The latest much hyped device is the "Nexus One" from Google which is scheduled to be launched tomorrow. This new Smart Phone has all of the press and Blogging world commenting how it may (or may not) be the next, "iPhone Killer" that the industry has been lusting for for the last three years.

TUTORIAL: Download any files from inside Safari & other tips

In this article, I explain the recently-released "Safari Download Manager", which (particularly with the external iFiles application) adds a convenient way of adding a download manager to Safari – on jailbroken phones. I also provide a very thorough comparison to iCab Mobile and VanillaSurf, the two (highly recommended) third-party Web browsers that also have a download manager – without having to jailbreak your phone. Finally, I also explain how you can save and, later (even without direct Internet connection!) read Web pages in the latter two Web browsers. (You, unfortunately, can’t do the same in the new plug-in.)
