The Week is a weekly print news magazine as well as a popular news destination online that offers a digest of news and commentary from magazines, newspapers, and websites. The publisher says that the magazine is the "fastest growing news and opinion magazine in America." Now there's a free iPhone app, The Week U.S., that gives you access to their content. I love news apps, especially when they're free.
I have downloaded and used multiple news readers in my journey for a perfect match. Many of them are very pleasing on the eye, and do consolidate news well, but they just didn't seem to complete me, if you know what I mean. Zite (free) is a new app that is very close in appearance to Flipboard, but the similarity stops there. Zite will let you customize your news AND learn what you like as you read, so that it delivers more stories that you are interested in, the longer you use it.

Time magazine recently announced its list of 50 Best iPhone Apps 2011 divided into the following categories: games, on the go, lifestyle, music & photography, entertainment, and social. I see that Instapaper is on the list. That was one I wished I had downloaded to my iPad before taking my recent flight to San Francisco for Macworld. It lets you capture web content for offline viewing. Overall, this is an excellent selection of must-have apps.

End-of-the-year lists help to increase your app literacy. If you keep seeing some of the same apps on the lists, then these apps probably deserve a spot on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Time magazine offers their top 10 iPhone apps from 2010. Many of my favorites are here, such as Netflix, Hulu Plus, and Dragon Dictation.
CNET reports via Digitimes that a Taiwanese based company, known as Largan Precision will be the main supplier of camera lenses for the second generation iPad.
