SoundPrism Review - Easy music composition for iPad, iPod touch or iPhone!

image

You want to play an instrument, or compose music for your new app or a YouTube trailer, or maybe just because--but, problem is you know little or nothing about music in general, the keyboard, synth or piano especially. SoundPrism can help! Seriously, this app makes it difficult to not make decent sounds come out of your device!!

What I am playing this week!

image

Have to post up on 3 apps I am enjoying on the iPad (and iPod touch) this week. I admit I have finally succumbed, and am now drinking the iPad Kool-Aid. The iPod touch screen was too small for eBook reads. Anyway, wanted to showcase 2 games and an excellent sound composition app am checking out this week. Flap Flap, forwards the weirdly addictive bird saga of other games like Tiny Wings--with a decidedly more platform feel...

Hound -- new free app lets you search for info about music just by speaking

image

The makers of SoundHound have just released Hound (free), which lets you do a search just by speaking the song name, artist, or band. The app then gives you access to song previews, lyrics, album art, videos, artist bios, album info, tour dates, and more.

iTunes: It's All About the Music

The basics of managing music with iTunes and your iPhone, iPod or iPad

iTunes

Apple's first slogan for iTunes was "Rip. Mix. Burn." It succinctly listed the three tasks the software performed: rip audio tracks from CDs into MP3s, store them on a computer where users can create their own mixes, and burn them to a CD. Previous articles about iTunes have explored some of the more advanced features of Apple's powerful and complex software, from managing iOS devices and apps to obtaining iTunes University content. iTunes has been around for 10 years, and most long-time Mac users are familiar with using it to manage their music library.

What I Played this Week, and More News!

image

Haven't done this in awhile, so maybe I should call this "What I played this quarter!". I had to post up on JetCar Stunts though, since it's the latest game I can't stop playing (it's not a new title--released in 2009). Crazy addictive time killer is what it should be called!. Featured in iTunes essential games, you can grab it here at $1.99. Expansion course packs also available. The concept is to race through 3D high-flying aerial stunt courses with your rocket powered jet car (who wouldn't want one of those)... More app news follows...

image

Version 2.0 of Live365 Radio has just been released, adding multitasking so that you can use your iOS device to do other things while listening to streaming radio stations. The app offers over 7,000 free online radio stations. These range from commercial and public stations, to those programmed by DJs interested in a particular style.

Music: Introduction

Your iOS device has a built-in app that lets you play music. On the iPhone and iPad, it's called "iPod." On the iPod touch it's called "Music." The app lets you browse songs, albums, artists, create playlists, and more. Even cooler, the Voice Control feature (available for the iPod touch gen 3 and 4 and the iPhone 3GS onward) allows you to play songs by speaking a command like, "Play Artist John Lennon." The following will help you maximize the music capabilities of your device.
