vBookz

Why vBookz is more then just another ePub reader

Todd Bernard did a nice write up on vBookz back in Aug.  Well V2 of vBookz came out and although there are few cool new things about it; like:

iPhone versions of iPad Book apps

I've written about some cool iPad book apps before, specifically vBookz and The Pedlar Lady of Gushing Cross.  Both apps are great examples of why the iPad is more than just a big iPod touch.  The large screen makes it practical to view books with more than a paragraph displayed at a time.

Is vBookz the future of eBooks? You decide!

I've always felt that it was shortsighted for eBook readers to merely try to emulate the traditional book experience.  Sure, it's fun to see the page curl as you swipe the screen, etc., but for eReaders to really take off, they need to leverage their technology and offer advantages that a traditional book cannot.  vBookz, $4.99 from Mindex International, is an attempt to do just that, with an eBook reader that reads out loud, using Text-to-Speech.
