A Stellar Year: "Strongest Lineup of Products That Apple Has Ever Had."

image

Earlier this year, when Apple's Eddy Cue said that "we've got the best product pipeline that I've seen in my 25 years at Apple," he apparently wasn't exaggerating. This year has been nothing short of spectacular for Apple, with the release of one innovative and impressive product after another. It would seem the creative spirit of Steve Jobs is alive and well in Cupertino California. As Tim Cook reiterated today, this is the "strongest lineup of products that Apple has ever had." Congratulations Mr. Cook, job well done. Now as Apple wraps up itsr last major product announcement of 2014, let's take a quick look back at what a year it's been for this powerhouse company as it proves itself to be more cutting edge and more relevant than ever.

The iPad mini: New design mockups are spot on, Unlike anything we envisioned.

image

Ah, now that's more like it! The blogosphere is abuzz today, with new and improved mockups of the speculated, soon-to-be-released iPad "mini".

These mockups show the new iPad looking more like an enlarged iPod touch, a device that can be held and even operated one-handed! This is a marked difference from previous design mockups which have the purported iPad mini looking more like a shrunken down iPad.

These redesigned concepts of the iPad mini reveal a device that is incredibly thin, incredibly light and rather than having the thick and bulky bezel of the iPad, these renderings show an iPad that for all intents and purposes, looks much more akin to a large iPhone "5".! Though we must be clear, this new iPad will of course, be running the iPad version of iOS, and will (may or may not) have the same aspect ratio as the current iPads. I love it and can only hope that IF indeed Apple does unveil an iPad mini on September 12th, that it will look something like these images.

The iPad Mini [Rumor Round Up]

image

For many months now, the rumors and whisperings have been building as to the purported existence of a smaller version of the iPad. In fact, as a tech journalist, I've been discussing the importance of Apple releasing a smaller format iPad ever since the iPad was initially released years ago! Even though Steve Jobs clearly stated that he wasn't keen on a smaller iPad, not only had he been known to change his mind, but a smaller format iPad just makes sense, just like a larger iPhone just makes sense. Further more, and with all due respect, Mr. Jobs is dead, and he left the company in what he deemed were capable hands, and these capable hands can direct the course of Apple in ways that they see best.

So, keeping in mind that Apple has yet to confirm an official name for the rumored iPad mini, or if in fact there even is an iPad mini about to be released, and if there actually is an iPad mini in the works, if that announcement will come on September 12th (which is the date current rumors have pegged for the announcement of the new iPhone), keeping all that in mind, here's a round up of what information we have so far. Please note, if I’ve included the rumor in here it's only if the rumor is being floated around by multiple reliable sources. That said, a rumor is a rumor and can't be taken to the bank, so only time will tell...
