CES: Sonos, D-Link and Intamac, Sanyo, and the HD2 at Digital Experience

image

The Mirage convention center was quite the gadgety place to be last night, and sorry about not having good pix from the event, but I had some issues with my camera just before. Oh well, I swing back later and post more shots on the cool stuff I saw there, but wanted to get some word out on some of the cutting-edge stuff now.

CES Update and Chevon Hicks Meeting

My first post from CES, and you can see that the booth is coming along swimmingly, and the iPhoneLife team is just about ready for prime-time.

Review: Ant Conflict by Art Core Gaming

image

When describing a game it’s pretty common practice to say “it’s like…”  Well, to finish that phrase for Ant Conflict I’d say “It’s like chess”.  In fact, I’d wager to say that if you want to be any good at it, you’ll have to take the time to study the board like you would a game of chess.  Unfortunately, I’m not that patient.  Thankfully I’ve learned to like games even when I’m not very good at them, and I like Ant Conflict.  The characters are cool, the game is challenging, and brute force is not an option.

Forget the Melatonin - Try this app!

image

Melatonin is an alarm clock app for the iPhone, but unlike other alarm clocks, this one is peaceful and almost hypnotic!

An adorable yellow bird sits on a rock in a sunlight yard. When you’re ready to go to sleep, you tap the bird, and night begins to fall. The little bird says “Goodnight” and proceeds to twitter gently as the sun slowly goes down and the stars begin to twinkle. You can set how long you want sunset to last or skip this altogether.

Moodagent — free app for generating playlists

image

Moodagent has only been out about three weeks and already has over 200,000 downloads and is currently averaging 25,000 downloads a day. Pretty impressive. It's a freebie that lets you move sliders to indicate the type of music you want to hear, and in seconds it generates playlists. It uses the song's actual content to make recommendations based on digital analysis of the music. This is in contrast to Apple's Genius, which makes recommendations based on purchase history.

Review: Puzzlegeddon by Handy Games

image

The new year's just begun but there's always something to review.  First up is a sweet little match 3 / PvP combat game from Handy Games called Puzzlegeddon.  The game's fun to play, the match 3 element is blended nicely into the game's mechanics, and it looks pretty sharp too.  They just need to throw in some human opposition to round out the picture.

The 12 Reviews Of Christmas: Speed Forge Extreme by Chillingo (Day 12)

image

It's just minutes away from midnight where I live, but that still gives me time to post the last entry in my 12 Reviews Of Christmas (or as it has now become, 12 Reviews Of December) series.  This time I took a look at Chillingo's latest racer, Speed Forge Extreme.  If you like futuristic racing with deadly weapons and cool tracks, I think you'll agree that Speed Forge Extreme is worth taking for a spin.
