Viper SmartStart

Viper SmartStart 3.0 brings the Cloud to your car!

At the Mobile Apps Showdown at CES earlier this year, the award-winning Viper SmartStart product was one of the coolest apps demonstrated, in my opinion, and it certainly garnered oohs and aahs from other press there. It didn't win the MAW, but it was in the select top 10 apps, and for good reason. There is no other mobile aftermarket car-gadget integration product that comes close to this level of capability--start your car from your iPhone, check the temperature remotely, and have it warmed up and ready when you arrive! In the latest version 3.0, Viper is adding even more awesomeness with cloud services. Now your car tells you when it wants to warm up, over the internet...Wow! Read on for full PR info...

Mobile App Showdown at CES!

The CES mobile apps showdown this year at CES started with some upbeat music, and the mood was certainly expectant as people lined up outside the N255 conference room where it went down, but personally the apps didn't really deliver, IMHO. There were some cool apps in the running, no doubt. My personal favorite was the Magisto video enhancement app, which did turn out to be a winner. The show itself was somewhat poorly conducted as demos were frequently interrupted with glitches, which made me actually feel sorry for the exhibiters on more than one occasion. Jon Hein and Gary Dell'Abate of the Howard Stern show did a great job doing MC work, and the giveaway intermission was also great, but I guess I expected the top 10 apps to be somehow cooler...

Viper SmartStart -- free app uses augmented reality to help you find your car

The main purpose of this free app is to work with a gizmo attached to your car so that you can start it remotely with your iPhone. But they've recently added some features that make it useful for you even if you don't want to invest a couple hundred on the remote start hardware.

Viper SmartStart — use your iPhone to unlock, start your car

I love seeing these new sorts of gadgets. And it always makes me wonder, What will they think of next? In this case you can use your iPhone to unlock or lock your car doors, start your car, open your trunk, or press the panic button — all from your iPhone, and all from wherever you are using the Viper SmartStart app. Say you're in a movie theater and realize you forgot to lock your car. Press a button on your iPhone, and it's done. It has virtually unlimited range, and you can control multiple cars from your iPhone.
