So there I was, in my real estate office gleefully gazing at a new 21 inch iMac. Just below my desk was a 6 year old IBM box that had served it's purpose......problem was all my pictures were on that machine and I wanted them on my new best friend. Since I already knew that the IBM box wouldn't play nice with my iMac, I could have moved them via CD or external hard drive or flash drive......or by dropping them into a folder......and that's just what I did. I dropped them into Dropbox on the PC and then opened Dropbox on my iMac and voila! No cables, no problems.
Whiteboard advocates should be very interested to learn that Avici Software has emulated the whiteboard experience on the iPad to a relatively successful degree. The iPad's display size and resolution make it a strong platform for such a concept. However, while Avici's execution of the concept is on track toward being a must-have piece of iPad software for meeting managers, designers and general brainstormers, it's not quite there yet.
For $4.99, Todo for iPad is a very sophisticated GTD app for the iPad. It features both projects and checklists, as well as repeating tasks, reminder alerts, and clickable phone numbers and URL’s in notes. Other features include:
Taska is a GTD app with very easy-to-use features. Create and manage todo's, lists, contexts, and tags. There's even a built-in map to show you where your tasks are located, how far away, and a route to get there. You can assign due date, due time, priority, and tags all on one screen. Other features:
Although I found LogMeIn cumbersome to use, I did like the fact that I could access my computer when I need to while away from home. Very handy. However, I've decided not to use it because I don't like to leave my computer on 24/7. You have to take the "sleep" mode off your computer so that it's accessible all the time. It will not wake up your computer.
The first thing you need to know is that Omni Focus for iPad is NOT a beefed-up version of Omni Focus for iPhone. The iPad app has been created specifically for the iPad. It takes full advantage of the iPad’s larger real estate and has features not found on the iPhone version.
Here's how to translate a foreign language into your own language.
Here's a handy app - Group Text. No more typing in contacts one-by-one to send a text message to more than one person at a time. Instead, create a group in Group Text (like Family or Work). Then, when you want to send a text to the group, simply select the group's list and bingo! One text message to everyone in the group at one time! Easy and quick. $2.99 Features:
DashPad allows you to use multiple widgets on the iPad in a multi-tasking environment. You can check the time, write a sticky note, search Google, calculate and look up a phone number in a dashboard environment. The program runs in Mobile Safari - in other words, you must be connected to the Internet to use DashPad.
Finally, a PDF reader and annotation tool that’s different: iAnnotate PDF integrates your notes right into the document, not as a layer on top of the document. You can read these annotated documents with any standard PDF reader, such as Adobe Reader or Preview.
