Review: Do the SMS Sync On-Ear Bluetooth Headphones Live Up to Their Reputation?

image

We’re pretty big fans of SMS headphones here at iPhone Life. My colleagues and I have all written favorably about these headphones in the past, and you can read our various reviews by clicking HERE, HERE and HEREThese premium quality cans are very deserving of their “Studio Mastered Sound” name; they not only sound phenomenal, they rival some of the best studio headphones on the market. And as if that weren't enough, they are extremely durable and well-constructed so as to last for many, many years. This time around I'll be focusing on SMS Sync On-Ear Bluetooth headphones ($229.95), and while they are undoubtedly excellent headphones, you'll have to read on to find out if they are really worth their price tag.

CES 2014: Fugoo’s Waterproof Speaker Puts Fashion First

image

Once upon a time, if you wanted a rugged, waterproof tech accessory, it was going to look the part. Oftentimes that would include a bulky form factor and a militaristic look that, needless to say, wasn't everyone’s cup of tea. Nowadays we have far greater options when it comes to accessories that are both extremely rugged as well as stylish. The Fugoo waterproof speaker is one of those options.

CES 2014: House of Marley Rocks the Show with Liberate Bluetooth Line

image

House of Marley's booth was full of woodsy, organic goodies this year, and visiting them is always a treat. This year along with positive vibrations and bumping live music, House of Marley also had some impressive new, consciously crafted audio products to show off! If you don't already know, one of the defining qualities of House of Marley is their dedication to and skill at crafting high-quality audio gear that feels great and performs phenomenally, while being fabricated almost entirely from their patented, Eco-friendly, upcycled materials and natural woods. In fact, if there were an iPhone Life magazine award for Most Eco-friendly Audio Tech Company, I'd have to nominate House of Marley.

CES 2014: Korus speakers bring 100 Watt sound with wireless innovation!

image

I like things that are simple. No wires, no fussy setup and updates. Just plug it in and press play. Korus is producing speaker technology to go head to head with other boutique wireless speaker products, and doing so without annoying lag or cumbersome setup. The V600 ($449.99), and V400 ($349) speakers were both on display at the show, and we got an up-close look and listen of these attractive new speakers. The sound of course was as superb as touted (as much as listening to them on the show floor is possible), but the cool thing is that they use neither Bluetooth nor WiFi to stream, but a frequency-hopping algorithm patented by their engineering team.

Spotify Streaming Music Service Now Free for Mobile Users

image

Good news for music enthusiasts: Spotify's streaming music service is now free. The Spotify app has always been free, but you had to pay $10 per month for the opportunity to listen to on-demand music. That meant that you could request any particular song from their catalog. This, of course, was different from services such as Pandora and iTunes Radio, which let you indicate your favorite music but then stream similar music rather than the particular favorite you identified. Spotify's new free service for the iPhone falls somewhere in between. You can identify a particular artist, album, or playlist, but then Spotify streams the music in "shuffle mode," meaning that you get your favorite music but not a particular song at a particular time. The playlists available include those you've put together as well as playlists your friends have created.
