A guy wins a Pulitzer Prize for cartooning, then finds out his iPhone app is turned down by Apple -- because "it contains content that ridicules public figures," according to the email award-winning political cartoonist Mark Fiore received from the Apple iPhone Developer Program last December. The surprising rejection is getting wide play from news outlets such as The Washington Post.
I really wanted to like the Rē. I am the gadget guy, who always has the latest of everything. I have owned numerous high-end universal remote controls, from Philips, Sony, Logitech (Harmony) and Monster Cable. I am not opposed to spending $100 or more for a device that can connect all of my audio and video equipment and displace multiple remotes.
Reviewed this app awhile back on the Windows Mobile side of our site, and now SPB has versions for Android, Symbian, and iPhone! What surprised me is they are offering it for free for iPhone (it's $14.95 for WinMo). It worked pretty well then, but have not tried any other versions or checked the channel availability lately (which was somewhat limited). GameFinder (free) is a new app that helps you find games in a variety of ways. According to the press release, you can check out games that were recently reviewed on Slide To Play, a website that focuses on reviewing games and that has developed the app. You can also explore games by genre, or browse through lists such as STP Games of the Month, zombie-themed games, Match-3 puzzles, first-person shooters, games under a dollar, and more.
Have you ever wanted to be a giant robot in your life? Do you need some stress relief?Then I think I have a solution for you, and a fun one at that. I saw in a forum last week that someone had made a post about a new game called “Robot Rampage.” It’s basically a side scrolling game where you are a giant robot and your job is to destroy the city, block by block. I had read that the cost was half price at .99, so I bought it. I can’t stop playing this game. As the robot, you can step on things, punch things, and you have a laser that comes out of your eye. Pretty cool hah?
Well you’re going to need it because the humans are ticked that you are making the city into a big parking lot. To get to the next block, you need to destroy the buildings in your way. Not a big deal because you can punch, stomp and fire. The problem comes when you also have to deal with tanks, helicopters, foot soldiers, jet bombers, and nuclear missiles on your journey. One of the other cool features is that you can also listen to your own music library if you want. I do not think you will be disappointed. The developers did a great job creating this game. I am not sure if anything else lies ahead in further levels, but bring it on.
If you're following the buzz on the Oscars, which is coming up this Sunday, E! Online (free) is a great choice. The app was just updated with a new carousel navigation menu above the news section that highlights the Academy Award season coverage with special video content and a new "Live from the Red Carpet" section. The app offers extensive coverage from the event, as well as leading up to it and in the days that follow. Also new to this version is E! Talk Box, which gives you the ability to record your own video commentary (you'll need the iPhone 3GS) on hot topics and celebrity headlines and submit it directly to E!
Very cool indeed, is what I think of Amir Markish’s Radio Hungary ($1.99) which has a very user friendly interface allowing you to search Hungarian Radio stations being broadcast online.Save your favorites and play.
