iDoc's Top 10 iPhone App Recommendations.

image

Considering how many apps are available in the Apple app store, not to mention how many are actually on my iPhone (close to 300), it's a bit daunting of a task to come up with only 10 apps to recommend here and now! There are simply so many amazing and award-winning apps out there and each is suited to an individual uniquely.

Free CW Network app streams full episodes of primetime programs

image

This is a trend that I like: more and more programming from the networks is available online via free streaming video. Now the CW Network has joined in, offering its complete primetime slate of programs via steaming video. Their new app, The CW Network, is available for free. In addition to streaming video, it also offers clips, photos, social networking, and a schedule. CW, which launched in 2006, is a joint venture of CBS and Warner Brothers.

Three great streaming video apps -- including free movies

image

I wrote an article about 20 streaming video apps in the Jan/Feb 2011 issue of our magazine, and have another article coming on in the May/June 2012 issue (on newsstands in mid-April) that covers about a dozen more, with a focus on video-aggregation apps such as Plizy. I've blogged about many of these apps, but wanted to highlight a few that I haven't yet covered here.

Music Color for iPhone and iPad

image

The iPhone and iPad have been extremely popular for a number of things since they came out but one thing which has been surprising by many is how many great educational uses there is for them.  One type of education app which many people might never know about is those which are designed for very young children.  The music color app is designed to not only help little kids learn their colors but also get a great appreciation for music.  The app is set up with large panels of different colors for little kids to choose and interact with in a simple way.

VoteMe App Review

image

The Vote Me app is a new political game where you are ‘competing’ against all the other users of this app to get as many votes as possible, and eventually become the first ‘social president’.  You run your social presidential campaign on any platform you’d like to attempt to get votes.  Whether you use it to help promote awareness of local causes, natural concerns or just for fun, you can add in any issues you want to help get attention to yourself.

What's This App? 2 Review

image

What's This App 2 is the sequel to the very popular trivia game for the iPad and iPhone.  This app is quite unlike most other trivia games available today in that it is not just a matter of how much you know about different subjects but much more than that.  You have to look at the clues, which could be anything from the audio playing to the picture or even the letters on the screen.  Every level provides a unique and thought provoking challenge which you have to overcome.  The trick to this game is to learn not to think about it like a normal riddle or trivia question.

Movie Awards Trivia: Will You Know it All?

image

Okay, so this is probably one of the cooler applications that I have seen in a long time.  Have you ever felt like giving yourself a run for your money in Movie Awards Trivia?  Well, look no further than this application!

I like the graphics of this app, I think they are really cool and cute.  The app has a theme, movies, and when starting to play the game a soft and sweet little melody starts to play that accompanies the game (you do have the option to shut off this music if it doesn’t agree with you).
