Apps: Books

This is a great little story for the iPad, I really appreciated the inspiration and the creativity both in the story and the illustration.  Flying Poodles, great idea!

Google today launched their new Google ebookstore and Google Books app (free). They say that the store has over 400,000 books available for purchase and over 2 million free ebooks. As is typical, the app lets you change the font and search inside the book. It also has night-reading mode and offline reading mode. Your books are stored in the cloud. When Apple developed iBooks, the first thing that I thought of was how one app could revolutionize the education market. I imagined all the times I walked a mile across campus carrying 20 lbs. of books and thought what a miracle it could be to students around the world to be able to carry only an iPad.

If you have children, you appreciate entertainment that appeals to kids and grownups at the same time.  After all, if you have to sit through a movie, and pay full price, you might as well enjoy it too, on your own level.  The Penguins of Madagascar: Read & Play is an app (iPad only folks) that I found amusing as did my kids who are fans of the Nickelodeon show of the same name, based on those funny penguins and lemurs from the Madagascar movies.
