UPDATE: Sold out in under two hours!
WWDC 2012 just announced and tickets are on sale at https://developer.apple.com/wwdc/
Two years ago, at $1600/ticket plus expenses, I wasn't sure if I would go, and tickets sold out in 8 days. Last year I determined ahead of time that I would go, and tickets sold out in one day! But I did indeed make it and got to see Steve Jobs one last time. Expect tickets to sell out today, so don't delay!
Sena makes some great leather cases for iPads, and I've written about them in the past
, so I was excited to see their latest iPhone offering. The Creativo case
doesn't disappoint. Naturally, as with all Sena cases, the leather is high quality, but at under $40, it's still affordable.
Forget 3D movies and television, the real future is 3D printing! It's not cheap, yet, but the folks at Sculpteo
are trying to pioneer a new way to create truly personalized items from ceramic and other materials.
Naturally, they have an app for that, and it supports the iPad as well. It lets you choose from an existing collection of designer-created 3D printable objects or create a personalized item like a mug with your child's silhouette built-in or an iPhone case with your custom message. I'm tempted to say the custom images or text are embossed, but that's technically inaccurate. The item is crafted in 3D with your edits. You have to see it to understand, and you can download the app for free and play with it.
Our readers know of Livio Radio (see my review here) for their Bluetooth in car radio hardware kit, available at your local Radio Shack, but you may not know that they have created Livio Connect, an API targeted at hardware makers and app developers. I had the opportunity to speak with Jake Sigal, CEO of Radio.
I wrote about VIP Orbit a while ago, but they've made some enhancements that leverage the real estate of the iPad, and address some of the cosmetic concerns I raised in my initial review. As Hannibal used to say on the A Team, I love it when a plan comes together. Well, Mike Muhney, the creator of both VIP Orbit and of the highly popular ACT database program must love how the world has migrated to both circles in the case of Google and the cloud in the case of Apple and others.
Words with Friends may be the gold standard for word games, but Quote Unquote
offers a unique alternative. You are presented with a famous (or not so famous quote, but from a famous person) and you have to extract parts of words from the quote to solve crossword style puzzles.
I've written about the iDangle before, and while it has some advantages, there's a new kid in town called the iHangy that might appeal to the ladies.
My daughter had to do a school project which required index cards, and I had to scrounge around for some. The reason I didn't have the old school cards is that I've been using the appropriately named Index Card app
. It does the work of an entire stack of cards, but you can virtually rearrange and edit them as desired. Plus it looks great on my new iPad with Retina display, thanks to the realistic cork, linen and other backgrounds.
