Another cool racer, Phaze, recently made available in the App Store (developer Pazzazz), and now reviewed--has all the finely-honed graphics, speed and excitement of a pod-racer and then some.
iPhone syncs were never known to be speedy, but mine were getting ridiculous. I found that they were taking 3 to 4 hours to complete. I dreaded having to sync my iPhone whenever I wanted to add new media or just to update my information. I would start my syncs before going to bed so that they would finish sometime during the night and I wouldn’t be without my phone. I noticed that the backup that iTunes performs before each sync was taking forever to complete.
If you read my first two posts in this series, you might be wondering why I'm continuing to review these games. Besides the fact that the developer was kind enough to provide me with the first five games for these reviews, it turns out they're actually getting better. The next game in the series is Pegburner, and it's a simple "click the numbers in order" game. I was actually a bit relieved, because given then name I thought it was going to be another one of those peg jumping games.

You may be familiar with the name Jordan Rudess, a well known master keyboard player and electronic musician. He’s been posting some great video demonstrations on YouTube including a relatively new iPhone/iPod Touch app call Bebot-Robot Synth ($1.99) that is an incredibly expressive synthesizer and performance controller. Last time I talked about Tic-Tac-Bacon, an odd variant of a classic children's game. Today's piece is on a game called GardenGrow. According to the developer's blog, this game was inspired by his girlfriend. Makes sense, I suppose, because I couldn't see too many guys designing a simple gardening game on their own accord. After all, we like to kill things with big guns, right? Anyway, I do have to give this game credit for one thing: it's better than Tic-Tac-Bacon. Sadly, not by much. The game starts off with a similar loading time to TTB, though I think it's a bit faster. Once the game's ready you get a splash screen explaining that you are to use music to make the plants grow, and there's a nice big Begin button in the middle of the screen. Press start and you're off... to a screen with grass and some colored buttons at the bottom. It turns out that if you press those buttons, they make music!
With the Push support in the iPhone OS 3, the iPhone has become an excellent platform for instant messaging.
Before the Push support, you could only keep them listening using hacks like Backgrounder on jailbroken devices or using clients that forced the entire phone remain “alive”. Neither is an optimal solution. Now, the Push support provides the platform with something that, in some respects, is even better than the current instant messaging support on competing smartphone operating systems (at least Symbian S60, Blackberry and Windows Mobile).
