To call today's event, "the iPad mini event" is, in a sense, grossly inaccurate, since after all, we were introduced to a wide and varied line of truly impressive and noteworthy products. And yet, I suspect today's event is destined to go down in history first and foremost, as the day the world was introduced to the iPad mini.
Today, Apple introduced to us, the new iPad mini, the revamped 4th Generation iPad, the Mac mini, the new iMac and the new 13” Retina display MacBook. And that’s just talking about the hardware! Apple also unveiled an amazing update to iBooks as well as the iBook Author app. Quite the bountiful event! What great icing on the cake after the iPhone and iPod event of last month. First Apple introduced their latest iteration of the world’s most popular smartphone which has gone on to sell in record numbers, breaking sales records set by its predecessor. Now, Apple has entreated us to an equally impressive and expansive line up of new and equally innovative and revolutionary products. Apple gave a great show today with a plethora of stunning new devices, while also demostrating their great flair for the theatrical and suspenseful that we have all come to love and perhaps, expect.
Welcome to our live blog photo album of today's Apple event in San Jose, California. Enjoy! Let the pictures tell the story... And as the event is underway, what better way to start, than with a video of a what iPhone5parts says is an actual prototype iPad mini being examined and turned on!
Ladies and Gentlemen, are you prepared to witness the unveiling of a revolutionary new iDevice?
I am! In fact, can we just take a moment to pause and reflect upon the poetic eloquence? Rather than simply parroting Jobs' iconic statement, "One more thing", as they closed out last month's dramatic, showstopper, iPhone 5 launch, Apple is honoring his tradition of introducing something revolutionary on the heels of something grand with tomorrow's big celebration.
The Griffin Survivor continues an excellent tradition of providing some of the best protection for your iPhone at a most affordable price. At $50.00, you'd be hard pressed to find a better deal on such a quality rugged case. In fact, if I had to pick my 10 best rugged, heavy-duty cases for the iPhone 5, without a doubt, the Griffin Survivor would come in on top! That’s saying a LOT seeing as how the Survivor has some pretty stiff competition in the category of quality rugged cases, some of which are double the price!
The iPad mini is expected to be introduced next week, on Tuesday October 23rd at 1pm EST. Let's take a moment to look at all that we "know" so far about this marvelous new iDevice...

In the world of modern consumer technology the iPad mini is like the Loch Ness Monster, Bigfoot or extra terrestrials. Lot's of folks claim they exist, but there's no solid, public evidence. When it comes to the elusive iPad mini, we know nothing officially. Invitations to a supposed October 23rd media unveiling haven't even been sent out yet, and those were rumored to have been scheduled to go out back on October 10th. This wouldn't be the first time that the media's buzz got ahead of itself, with predictions of an Apple device that wasn't due to be released. As of yet, Apple still hasn't offered any official comment as to whether the rumored 7.85 inch screened iPad mini even exists. So keep that in mind as you read on. That said, at this point there's been an abundance of leaked prototype and part images, along with confirmation of the iPad mini's likely existence from numerous reliable sources, including the Washington Post and the Loop's Jim Dalrymple, enough so as to make me feel like the Apple iPad mini is more than just a speculative lark. I'd say it's relatively safe to think that the iPad mini is going to hit the market, and very soon. Now, according to German website Mobile Geeks (via SlashGear.com), an internal document has surfaced from German retail chain Media Markt, revealing a definite pricing structure for the mythical iPad mini.

The Next Web is reporting that the upcomming October 23rd media event and supposed unveiling of the highly-rumored and greatly-anticipated iPad mini will focus largely on iBooks after the introduction iPad mini. The iPad mini is expected to go head-to-head with other well-established, smaller tablets on the market, all of which also serve as E-readers, and all of which are roughly around the same price point.
According to The Next Web, "In what will likely be completely unsurprising news to many, we’ve now heard from multiple sources that Apple’s as-yet-unannounced iPad mini event will have a strong focus on iBooks. Since an iPad mini would likely be squarely aimed at those who wish to partake of media on their tablets, that would make a lot of sense. The event will, of course, be primarily devoted to a new hardware device, which iMore first reported would be a thinner, cheaper version of Apple’s iPad. But the primary purpose of such a smaller tablet would be to act as a conduit for Apple’s content, namely iBooks publications and movies."
News of the enigmatic iPad mini has been filled with some of the most back and forth, on again/off again rumors in recent history of Apple product releases. In fact, I'd have to look back to 2007, when the rumor mill was in full grind over the purported existence of the original iPhone to find a time when an Apple product was shrouded in this much secrecy and uncertainty. With rumors swirling for months about the actuality of the iPad mini, and most recently, pointing to specific release dates this month, it’s no wonder the Apple community is waiting with bated breath for some official word from Cupertino. Well, I'm not saying you can stop holding your breath just yet, however, AllThingsD has encouraging news this morning.
If you follow my articles, you know that I am a big fan of products that allow us to better merge our technical, mobile lifestyles with accessories that allow us to live our life on the go. I appreciate tools that support us in being as mobile with our gadgets as possible, and along those lines, I'd like to bring to your attention a neat little accessory that will be high on my wish list when it becomes available, the Jorno mini, Bluetooth keyboard.
With its rechargeable lithium ion battery, and measuring 3.5 by 3.5 by 1.2 inches when folded, and 8.5 inches wide, by 3.5 incehs high, and less than half an inch thick when opened, the Jorno is a functional godsend to all business folks, power users and prolific writers out there.
Apple and House of Marley have joined forces for a limited time to promote the children's charity Little Kids Rock. House of Marley, the lifestyle accessory company formed by Bob Marley's offspring, Rohan Marley, brings to market an original, earth-friendly and conscientous brand of quality gear. House of Marley is already recognized for it's charitable works and environmentally responsible business model, annually giving 5% of their profits to the 1Love Foundation, which was formed by Bob Marley's wife Rita. Now, and for the rest of October, Apple is proudly featuring House of Marley audio products and carry bags in the Apple store. Together, they are "doubling the love" and doubling the ammount donated to charity. Through the month of October, 10% of House of Marley's profits from Apple store sales will be donated to the charity Little Kid's Rock, which serves to bring musical intruments and music education to under-served schools and students.
