Real Racing 3. A Sneak Peek!

image

Last month it was reported that Electronic Arts (EA) was combining two of its mobile game design studios. Firemint, who make the hit racing series Real Racing, with Iron Monkey, who have developed for EA, stellar games like Mass Effect: Infiltrator as well as the award-winning Dead Space, have now been consolidated to form Firemonkeys. What can we expect to see from the joining of these two great design studios?

Well, good news racing fans! Now hot on the heels of this merger, Firmonkeys has just released a trailer for the upcoming Real Racing 3.

An Unreal Tease: Gameloft drops a hint at their amazing new game, powered by Unreal Engine!

image

It’s a unique move on the part of the French game designing company Gameloft, and an ingenious marketing strategy. Yesterday they dropped a hint on their Facebook page in the form of a wicked screenshot, of their soon-to-be-released mobile game. While they provided few details, they did invite followers to guess what the game is, noting that a clue to the name of the game, as well as the storyline, could be found within the image. Additionally, they opened up voting as to whether they should release another teaser image or a video trailer. I vote trailer!

Introducing: Scosche's RAILKASE. Rugged protection for your iPhone 4/4S.

image

Introducing the RAILKASE, from Scosche.

Scosche’s has entered into the  diverse and extensive field of rugged protection iPhone cases with what they call, the RAILKASE. The RAILKASE is a clever design that offers should offer a significant amount of protection for your iPhone, in most of the everyday circumstances you might encounter. This case isn't necessarily an extreme duty or military spec case, and it does lack one essential component that I feel any case claiming to be truly "ruggedized" ought to have, that being a built-in screen protector, but for most people in most situations, the Scosche RAILKASE will be more than enough to keep their iPhone safe and sound.

Power up your iPhone (or most anything else for that matter) with the Third Rail iPhone case!

image

The Third Rail slim case for the iPhone is an ingenious invention and perhaps one of my favorite portable charging solutions for the iPhone. Its versatility is a huge plus as is it’s minimalistic yet still, very protective design.

The Third Rail is indeed a slim, stylish and low-key option for a protective shield for the iPhone and as a stand-alone case by itself, would be worth considering. When you add to the equation, the fact that the Third Rail case is crafted to accept snap-on battery packs (as many as 6 of the ¼ inch deep, 1,250 mAh batteries can be stacked on) this case is hard to pass up! For anyone looking for a way to increase the time between having to plug your iPhone into a wall charger, while still keeping with the iPhone’s sleek and trim aesthetic, this is a case worth considering.

The Dark Night...

I was going to write an enthusiastic review of the new iOS game The Dark Knight Rises. I'll share that with you at another time.

In light of the recent theater massacre, I'd like to offer a moment of virtual silence, in a forum usually devoted to words. My heart extends towards all of you affected by the recent events in Colorado, and I offer my prayers to the families of everyone involved. May eveyone find solace, may everyone find peace.

A musician's dream come true: Introducing the Samson Carbon 49 MIDI keyboard.

image

Making music has been a part-time practice for me for decades now and I've dabbled in everything from guitar and piano to drums and didgeridoo. One thing that I've particularly enjoyed over the past several years is the way programs like Garage Band have made composing and recording great original tracks easy for everyone from amateurs like myself, to professionals like Trent Reznor, composer of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo soundtrack and Nine Inch Nails frontman. And if Garage Band made things convenient before iOS, then since the arrival of Garage Band on iOS, recording whatever we are inspired to compose has truly become a graceful, portable and trouble-free affair.

So I was excited when I got the opportunity to try out the new Carbon 49 keyboard by Samson. The Carbon 49 is an economical and portable solution to MIDI music performance and it boasts a number of unique and valuable features to make the process of playing and capturing music an intuitive one, with high quality results. I got to spend hours jamming on this little instrument this week and here are some of my findings and feedback.
