New Video Shows iOS Performing on a Larger, 4.7-inch Screen

image

Here's an interesting little video. Posted by tech reporter Dom Esposito, it shows iOS running on a 4.7-inch screen and gives us a pretty good idea what our operating system will look like on a larger sized phone's display, like the one the new iPhone is expected to have.

Game Centered Retro-Edition: 5 Classic iOS Games I Can't Quit Playing!

image

I love video games, which is convenient since I play a lot of them as I research my Game Centered column. Typically Game Centered focuses on breaking iOS-related game news and new releases, but in this special edition I'm going retro, with a Top 5 roundup of some of my old favorite iOS games. The following are enduring classics which still occupy precious space on my iDevices, and in my gamer’s heart.

Is Apple About to Place a Notorious Rap Superstar on Their Executive Board?

image

As you my have heard, as part of Apple's expected acquisition of Beats Music, Grammy-award winning "Gangsta" rap artist Dr. Dre is likely to be appointed as an executive board member at Apple. This is a very interesting development, and word has it that the official introduction will take place at Apple’s annual WWDC this first week of June. Why do I find Dre’s involvement with Apple Inc., as an executive board member no less, so uniquely intriguing?

Apple Set to Keep Your Heads Ringing with Acquisition of Beats Electronics

image

At this very moment Apple is rumored to be involved in active talks to buy Dr. Dre’s Beats Electronics. At over 3 billion dollars, this would be Apple’s biggest acquisition ever, far surpassing the $429 million Apple spent in 1996 to buy NeXT, its largest purchase to date.

Skullcandy's Crusher Over-Ear Headphones: Guaranteed to Rattle Your Bones [Review]

image

If you're a music lover or an iOS gamer, you already get this, but it's hard to appreciate the full scope and flavor of our media when relying solely on our iOS device's speakers. Even if the extent of your media consumption on your iPhone or iPad (or laptop or desktop) doesn't stray beyond watching movies and videos, you'll have to admit, the in-built speakers these gadgets come with don't necessarily broadcast the most stellar audio. For crystal clear, pristine sound reproduction we have to look to the world of headphones and external speakers. With that in mind I'm always on the lookout for great headphones and speakers to share with iPhone Lifers. This week we'll be taking a look at Skullcandy’s Crusher over-ear headphones ($99.99).

Top 5 Rugged and Ultra-Portable Clip-On Bluetooth Mini-Speakers for Summer Adventures.

image

To help you prepare for your warm weather adventures with iDevices in tow I recently compiled and reviewed some of the best, rugged, Bluetooth speakers currently on the market. All of the speakers featured in that particular round up were of outstanding quality and durability, but one thing they all had in common was the fact that they were all too large to comfortably tuck in your pant’s pocket or clip on your belt-loop or pack-loop. Many adventurers these days would appreciate having a more portable Bluetooth speaker solution, and with that in mind, the following roundup features some of the best, ultra-portable, miniature-sized and ruggedized Bluetooth speakers available.

Each installment of Game Centered will take a closer look at a select few worthy of special recognition. This week we'll take a look at some of the newest fast-paced, adrenaline-fueled action games to hit the Apple App Store.

10 iPhone Accessories Every Nature Enthusiast Needs

image

Happy Earth Day everyone! I'll admit, I've got mixed feelings about the contemporary celebration day known as Earth Day, simply because I feel strongly that EVERY day should be approached with the love and respect for Mother Earth that Earth Day promotes. Nonetheless, once a year is better than nothing. We all have our own connection to this great planet and there's no shortage of cool gadgets, gear, and apps to help us get out there and enjoy all that this bountiful planet has to offer. I've put together a roundup (presented in no particular order) of some of my favorite items. This roundup features accessories that will encourage you to spend more time romping and frolicking outside, and that will support doing so with your modern-day tech in tow. The gear featured here isn't necessarily produced by any award-winning Eco-friendly companies, but they might inspire you to spend more time outdoors and perhaps develop a greater connection with this great planet and Mother Nature.

Review: Experience Wireless Hi-Fi with the Freedom Bluetooth Headphones

image

Bluetooth headsets have come a long way since the old days of those small, thumb-sized, in-ear stick devices that weren't good for much more than talking on the phone hands-free. These days we can enjoy an ever-increasing selection of high-fidelity, acoustically precise Bluetooth headphones. Still, there aren't that many to choose from, relative to the number of wired headphones on the market. In this newly emerging market of quality Bluetooth headphones, the SuperTooth Freedom ($149) have become one of my favorite Bluetooth headphones currently available. That said, there's still room for improvements. Read on to find out where these headphones shine the brightest, and where they could use some polishing up.
