iPhone App Developer Account: Why You Should Set-up Your Own

This blog post was originally written by one of my developers and I thought I would share it with the iPhone Life community, especially those interested in developing their own apps.  For those that are thinking about developing an app, make sure that you create your own developer account for $99 and don't simply use the account of whatever company you choose to develop your app - see below for the main reasons why.


 



When Should You Start Building Your Mobile Apps for iOS 5?

With the release of iOS 5 today, there has been some debate at my organization of which OS version we should build for in future iOS apps, iOS 4 or iOS 5. Building to accommodate multiple OS versions is more time consuming which translates to greater costs, and is not always an option. In general, we lean towards the safe side and build to accommodate more users by building for an older OS. However, this also limits what new APIs we make use of in development.



Mobile App Analytics Packages: How are your users using your app?

App publishers should be looking at their app's statistics in order to gain an understanding of their app's performance: how often is it being downloaded, what are user's doing inside their app, are their any bugs in their app that keep a user from fully enjoying their app.
