Rumorpad: Ipad 2 'will-it, won't-it'

Lots of recent articles, blogs and episodes of investigative journalism have delved into the “will-it, won’t-it” subject of  the ipad 2 launch, rumoured to be in March or April 2011.

The only Iphone case review I’ll ever do – cos it’s also a Li-Polymer battery pack at only 59 grams!

I normally don’t pay attention to Iphone cases because I prefer to spend my money on apps, mp3s and epubs.

How was it for you? ...On Angry Birds Day?

image

This is a rather belated post about what happened in various cities during Angry Birds Day 11thDec 2010.  And so it seems that Scandinavians, in this case, Rovio, the developers of Angry Birds who hail from Finland, are not great party organisers and therefore the world-wide turn-out was reportedly not fantastic. There were, of course, a small group of hardcore fans who did show up at gatherings in New York and Los Angeles dressed up as – what else – Angry Birds.

Infinity Blade coming to the App Store on 9th Dec!

image

Remember Epic Citadel? The awesome game app that really wasn’t a game. If you recall, Epic Citadel enjoyed a brief moment on several Top App lists several months ago when lots of curious folks downloaded this free demo of the Unreal 3 Engine for the Iphone/Ipad.

Pigs beware: Angry Birds Xmas edition is on its way; Angry Birds Day is officially 11th Dec 2010

image

Rovio, the Finnish Developers of top iphone app, Angry Birds, have hinted in their twitter feeds that there will be an Angry Birds Christmas edition. Apparently it’s going to be a free update for those who purchased the Halloween edition but probably a round of $0.99 donations for the rest of us.

Not content to sit on their laurels, it also looks like Angry Birds is going to take on life outside the iphone in a big way (where it started).

Ipad vs Tab: Asian price wars set to spread to North America and perhaps, Europe

Over here in Asia, the competition posed by the Samsung Galaxy Tab and others have prompted rumors that Apple is considering slashing prices in some countries here in Asia.

Ipad vs Tab: How not to name your Home/Start Button in Romanian

image

We all know that the closest competitor to the Ipad is the Samsung Galaxy Tab (or just, "Tab"). We also know that to "Start" something in Romanian is to "Porni", so....check out what happens to the Home Button in Romanian when it gets truncated by the Tab. :) I don't know whether this is a photoshop job but the article is here from Slashgear and elsewhere too.

Impending iOS4.2 release for Ipad and 4.2 random thoughts

Update: Apple has cancelled the Airprint feature from iOS4.2...:(

The web is now abuzz with the impending release of this long overdue update to the Ipad. Having been long accustomed to features such as multitasking and folders on my iPhone 4, the limitations of iOS 3.2 has become painfully obvious and unbearable. As I reflect upon the past few weeks, the following 4.2 random thoughts must be constantly nagging every geek and will no doubt dominate thousands of pantry room discussions in the next few days (what else???):

Skyfire browser brings Flash Video to Iphone and Ipad

image

Update 4/11: Due to demand overwhelming their servers, Skyfire has temporarily stopped all new downloads.

From the Skyfire Blog:

"The user experience was performing well for the first few hours, but as the surge continued, the peak load on our servers and bandwidth caused the video experience to degrade.

Thus we are effectively ‘sold out’ and will temporarily not accept new purchases from the App Store.
