Over in the Las Vegas Hotel (right next to North Hall), the CES iLounge Pavilion continues full of great accessory gear for the intrepid wanderer! I'll be posting up a full review on the iXY from RØDE after the show, but the high points include: stereo dynamic mic input wrapped in a superb hardware package, and with a recording/sampling ability and impressive range of editing and sharing options. Serious journalism types, podcasters, and musicians that want to capture high-quality audio with nothing more than iPhone (and the iXY) should give this product a serious look!
The iXY ($199 MSRP) is the first broadcast-quality digital implemention of an accessory mic that exists, allowing you to sample at 24-bit / 96kHz. The app also gives you waveform control over audio clips, using which, you can define and edit audio segments right on your iPhone. The RØDE Rec app ($5.99, limited LE edition available for free), makes clip sharing super easy via Dropbox, FTP, or HTTP, and in output formats like AAC, FLAC and OGG.
They also have mounting clips that will let you attach the whole rig on top of a DLSR camera to create a fully integrated high-end A/V solution (with 3.5 mm cable interconnecting to your camera). If you are still at the convention, make sure to check these guys out at booth 50001!ReviewsAppsiPhoneiPadiPod touchCESiPhoneography
