I have used a few of these services on the web (pix-to-art printing) and none offer anything so simple to use--with flexible and original mounting and pricing options--than those of Art.com. Whether you have an iPhone or not, you should check the site out if you want to turn your own shots into superb wall art. I often take my camera along on neighborhood strolls, and have grabbed a few lucky but stunning pix over the years (nature does the hard work) with only a simple P-n-S camera, and my friend gets amazing shots with his iPhone all the time (patient with a great eye). A few have turned out surprisingly well on canvas. Art.com has taken it to the next level, with an iPhone app called Photos to Art that will let you easily upload and order prints framed suitably for the office, or any room in your home...
Art.com's web service walks you through a simple-as-pie process to upload one or several pix. You can then select and order a print or framing medium that varies from fancy chic-looking acryllic, wood or even a simple card stock calendar for your desk. The service also nicely selects the best size for your print, and prevents you from loading up pictures that may be of too low a resolution to be useful for hanging. The new iPhone app let's you use Instagram or local photo roll selections, and provides an ingenious simulated preview of the hanging print. You can also use your panorama shots...cool, huh?
You can go to the links above to learn more and start creating great wall decor from your own pix, and since the iPhone app just launched today, I threw in the full PR release below...
"EMERYVILLE, CA—Art.com Inc., the world’s easiest place to discover, experience and buy art online, today launched its popular Photos to Art™ service as a free mobile application. The first-ever app of its kind, Photos to Art offers Instagram and iPhone users the ability to turn personal photos of people, places and memories into stunning, high-quality works of wall art directly from their phones.
With the new application, people can upload customized photos with special effects from their Instagram accounts or—if they don’t have an Instagram account—directly from their iPhone camera roll. After uploading their photos, users can choose the type of artwork they would like to create from a gallery, including large-scale artistic canvas, wood mounting, photographic poster prints and custom-framed pieces with Art.com’s best-selling moulding options to compliment any snapshot.
“With most of us relying on camera phones to capture those unexpected yet special moments in our daily lives, we have created a breakthrough mobile app that makes it easy to instantly create stunning works of art directly from your phone,” said Geoffroy Martin, CEO of Art.com. “With our new Photos to Art mobile app, people can discover and create art they love anywhere— transforming simple snapshots into marvelous masterpieces in minutes.”
The Photos to Art application has several features to help people create unique, personalized works of art. First, they can see what the photo looks like hung on a wall through the Room View feature, which offers views of a living room, kitchen and dining room. For an even more personalized assessment, the Visualizer allows users to see what the piece will look like on their own wall, from a perspective of 5 to 15 feet away. In addition, while sizes range from 8 x 10 inches to 20 x 30 inches, users are only able to select photo art in sizes appropriate for the quality of photo they uploaded with the app’s Smart Sizing. Lastly, to leverage the new capabilities of Apple’s iOS 6, people can also upload their panoramic photos and create 8 x 24 inch panoramic prints...
