Review: Speck CandyShell Wrap for iPad

The CandyShell cases by Speck are one of my all time favorite cases made. I have tested them out for my iPad and own them for the iPod Touch and Galaxy Tab 7. But the only reason it has not been my day to day case for the iPad is the lack of front screen protection. That is why I always turn back to my folio type cases. I just tested out the perfect match with the CandyShell Wrap for iPad. I’m reviewing it with the original iPad but it’s also available for the iPad 2. The original version has been out for a while and I have been wanting to try this out.

The Wrap comes in one color, DarkLord Black. The main case is just like Specks’ Candyshell’s hard on the outside, rubbery on the inside. There is also the flip panel at the bottom that allows you to use the Apple cradle accessory, as well as the camera connection kit. Installation is the same, just pop the iPad in and work the edges around it.

The front cover is constructed very similar. Hard CandyShell on the outside, with the rubber protection on the glass inside. The cover reminds me of the way the Apple Smart cover operates physically. It is remove-able from the case and is held in place by sliding it in a slot. The cover is also functional as it provides a typing or video stand. The cover folds and is secured by placing a rubbery tab in a slot. I found the tab a little tough at first to remove it from the slot but its fine after a few times.

The only thing I did not like about the case and color is that this is also a fingerprint magnet. I would have liked to see my favorite white color, but I guess I can’t have everything. I love using this case. With the exception of having to remove it for other reviews, this is going to be an everyday case for me.
