If we're looking at an October launch for the iPhone 5, that means we're looking at over 6 months of rumors. Whew, how will we survive? And no doubt I'll be purveying every last one of them. Despite the huge success of the current form-factor, which has changed very little in 5 years, rumors persist that the iPhone 5 will have a larger screen. The latest is from Reuters, the international wire service, which reported that the forthcoming iPhone will have a "sharper and bigger 4.6-inch 'retina"'display." They attribute their information to Maeil Business Newspaper, a Korean newspaper. MacRumors says that this rumor is unlikely, but does feel that rumors of a 4-inch iPhone 5 are more credible. MacRumors juxtaposed an iPhone with a 4.6-inch Samsung phone to illustrate the difference. As you can see from the image accompanying this post (that was originally posted on The Verge), it's quite significant.
