Be sure to check out Macworld's Appstravaganza. This isn't another best-of-2010 collection but rather a curated collection of apps that everyone should have. They've created 16 collections, in four broad categories: 1) work smarter, 2) entertainment, 3) developing creative content, 4) apps that showcase Apple's iOS. The work smarter category might sound boring, but it actually has some of the more interesting apps, such as Mocha VNC ($5.99), which lets you control your desktop computer remotely, Air Display ($9.99), which lets you use an iPad as an external monitor, and HippoRemote Pro ($4.99), which lets you use your iOS device as a WiFi remote control such that you can use it like you would Apple's Magic Trackpad. There's also a section on edutainment.
