LogMeIn Ignition — use your iPhone to control your computer

LogMein Ignition is not only functional but has a certain wow factor to it. Imagine whipping out your iPhone wherever you are and using it to control your computer at home or at work, including accessing all the applications. The app (for iPhone and iPod touch) costs $30, and a limited version of the service is free. As I understand it, the paid service, which costs $70 per year, allows you to access multiple computers. A recent survey by the company found that 57% of LogMein users now leave their laptop at home at least half the time when they travel and instead use their iPhone to access their computer remotely. The survey results — and stories about people using their iPhone to control their computer — are available in a free PDF ebook. There's also a great video demo.

As LogMeIn Ignition doesn't

As LogMeIn Ignition doesn't support for example file transfer, there isn't any point in subscribing to LogMeIn Pro. The Free version will do just fine with LogMeIn Ignition. That is, all you have to sell out is the one-time price of LogMeIn Ignition - you don't end up having to pay a monthly / yearly fee for the service itself.

Thanks

Thanks, Werner. That's good to know. Great roundup.

Sticking with iDisk

I'm sticking with iDisk, I know I can't control my home computer with it, but I can get basically everything I save on MobileMe. For me, being able to pull down files when I don't want to lug my MacBook around works just fine. I like the concept of this app but it's not for me.
