Close on the heels of the iPad release Apple has announced that there will be an event on Thursday to preview the new version of the iPhone software. (The rumor mongers are complaining that they've only just caught their breath from the iPad storm, and that there's hardly enough time to generate the usual wild speculation and fevered buzz that usually goes along with something new from Apple.) According to TidBITs, the media invitation says simply, "Join us at an invitation-only event for a sneak peek of the next generation of iPhone OS software." Of course, many of us have hopes for specific features, such as multitasking.
