iPhone 3.0 users are successfully enabling tethering — and MMS

If there's a gotcha in this, please don't blame me. I'm too chicken to try it myself. But, the fact is, iPhone 3.0 users have figured out that it's very simple to enable tethering (that is, using your iPhone to enable your laptop to connect to the Internet wherever you can get a signal). CrunchGear tells two methods of doing it, one simply entailing pointing your iPhone's Safari at a particular website. (The other entails typing in a command using the Terminal application.) Apparently, this only works for Mac users. And, as one commenter noted, a danger is that you might be incurring unknown charges by using tethering. But the hard-core iPhone users out there are cavalierly going for it — and thrilled with the result. Other websites covering this include Richard Lai's blog and 9to5Mac. Making this change to your device also apparently enables MMS.
