[update: iOS 6 is scheduled to become avaiable at 10 am Pacific Time today.] I'm looking forward to downloading iOS 6. An article in the International Business Times is offering a complete guide to new features, including Maps, Siri, Facebook, Passbook, and more. Also, see my earlier post outlining the top 5 new features.
In a separate article, IBT talks about limitations in Apple's Maps app that they say will make it less useful than Google's Maps app because of its limited local search capability. The article gives the example of typing in "burrito" in Google's Maps app and having nearby restaurants serving burritos appear in the search results. With Apple's mapping app, they say, restaurants will only appear if the word "burrito" appears in the name of the restaurant.
Also, some of the new features in iOS 6 will work only on the iPhone 4S and later. iPhoneTouch.blorge notes some of those features, such as Panorama, Siri, and turn-by-turn directions.
9To5Mac is reporting that the App Store in iOS 6 will offer an opening screen that lets users have one-tap installation of Apple's free apps: iBooks, iTunes U, Podcasts, Find My Friends, and Find My iPhone.
